On October 7, 2025, the Jackson County Circuit Court dismissed a lawsuit brought by an organization called “Right by You” which sought to strike down Missouri’s parental consent law for minors’ abortions. 

Susan Klein, Executive Director of Missouri Right to Life commented, “We are grateful that our parental consent laws are still in force for now and we thank Attorney General Hanaway for defending the right of parents to be involved in any health decisions regarding abortion for their minor daughters in Missouri. The 2026 Amendment 3 is critical to maintaining parental rights in Missouri.”

2026 Amendment 3 Moves Forward to 2026 Ballot

Late Tuesday afternoon Judge Daniel Green ruled that the rewrite of the 2026 Amendment 3 ballot language and summary by Secretary of State Denny Hoskins are sufficient to inform the general public the truth about what they will be voting on in 2026, which is to ensure protections for women, children and babies in reference to abortion and transgender issues.

Missouri Senators Sign Letter to FDA Requesting Protection for Women and Unborn Children

Missouri Right to Life thanks Missouri’s two U.S. Senators for signing a letter to the FDA requesting that they act swiftly to protect women and unborn children. The FDA has all the information they need to shut down the dangerous mail-order abortion drug business. The Biden administration allowed dangerous abortion drugs to be shipped through the mail in spite of many serious complications like hemorrhaging, infection, sepsis, and even death. This administration needs to act now.

Newborn baby surrendered to O’Fallon, Missouri Safe Haven Baby Box 

Missouri Right to Life supported the legislation to establish newborn safety incubators, also known as “Baby Boxes” in Missouri. Rep. Jim Murphy has championed this legislation for Missouri from its inception.

In the 2025 legislative session Jim worked to add more help to the “Safe Place for Newborns Act” to install more “baby boxes” in communities across Missouri. This legislation includes funding for a “Zero-Cost Adoption Fund” to help make monies available for adoption, the legislation also increases the number of days to 45 days where a baby could be dropped off with no questions asked. And this legislation includes the ability to apply for funding to set up a baby box in your own community.
