One More Step
Today, is the mandated deadline for the top officer of the Missouri Senate, President Pro Tem, Cindy O’Laughlin to sign bills passed by the Senate. She intended to do this yesterday but the pro-abortion Democrat Senators attempted to prevent the signing of the bills.
According to Peter Kinder, Chairman of the Missouri Republican Party, “Democrats attempted to block President Pro Tem O’Laughlin from signing duly-passed legislation, a constitutional obligation required to send bills to the Governor. This wasn’t a protest.
It was a deliberate, coordinated effort to sabotage the legislative process because they didn’t like the outcome of votes they lost. This act was unprecedented and it was a disgrace to the chamber they were elected to serve. Missouri Republicans will not be bullied by this kind of lawless obstruction.”
Now today, HCS HJR 73 was signed by President Pro Tem Cindy O’Laughlin without opposition. What changed? A majority of pro-life Republicans were present in the Capitol and were available to execute a PQ (Previous Question) motion, if necessary, in order to shut down the Democrats’ obstructionism and allow the Senate Pro-Tem Cindy O’Loughlin to do her Constitutional duty of signing HCS HJR 73 before sending it on to the Secretary of State.
Missouri Right to Life thanks Senate President Pro Tem Cindy O’Laughlin and Speaker of the House Jon Patterson for not only signing this life-saving Resolution but in the Senate for also taking the necessary steps to overcome this late attempt by pro-abortion forces to stop us from saving the health of Missouri Women and the lives of our precious preborn babies.
Even with the recent action of the courts to reinstate our health and safety regulations, there is no guarantee that they will not eventually be overturned when the case is retried in January of 2026.
We must all come together to fight for the passage of the Amendment that will be put on the ballot
by HCS HJR 73. And we must tell our family, friends, and our congregations, “VOTE FOR LIFE in 2026!”
