Forgotten Fatherhood
In many places in our culture today, there are vast numbers of people who have no understanding and no example of what real fatherhood is.
We have too many courageous women raising their children alone, too many broken families, where the father is absent for many reasons.
It creates a multi-generational assembly line of fatherless people who don’t realize what they are missing in their lives.
We take our belief, our understanding and our expectations from our Heavenly Father:
A father brings life to his children through a loving relationship.
A father provides physical, emotional and spiritual care of his children.
A father helps to shape and guide them. This is a commitment of both time and attention.
A father disciplines his children, always with a loving hand, for their success in the future.
A father teaches his children different skills. It might be fishing, sports, cooking, carpentry, the list is almost endless.
Above all, a father loves his children. He stays for the hard stuff. He makes sure they are loving people themselves. He makes sure they are part of his life and he is part of theirs.
Be that kind of father!
Happy Father’s Day!
