Missouri Legislature Passes New Congressional Map and Initiative Petition Reform In Second Special Session

Governor Mike Kehoe has called the Second Special Session of 2025. This call brought the Missouri House and Senate to Jefferson City around the regular scheduled Veto Session.

HB 1 draws a new map for Congressional districts. Redistricting Missouri’s 8 Congressional districts will allow Missourians to vote for people who represents Missouri values. The vote for the Congressmen/women for this new map will take place in the regular 2026 election cycle.

Missouri is a pro-life state. For Missouri Right to Life, the new Congressional map will give us the opportunity to work for Congressional candidates that will vote to protect women, children and pre-born babies.

The district map is available here and puts Missourians first: https://documents.house.mo.gov/billtracking/bills254/maps/map.3344H.01I.pdf

HS HCS HJR 3 will give Missourians the opportunity to vote on protecting the Missouri Constitution when an issue is placed on the ballot through the initiative petition process. HS HCS HJR 3 will be on the November 2026 ballot and will give Missourians the chance to decide if they want a higher standard when changing our Missouri Constitution. In past years, out-of-country and out-of-Missouri donors have spent millions of dollars to influence Missouri voters with lies about what a particular ballot measure does. An example of this is the 2024 pro-abortion Amendment 3, which passed by a slim margin of 1.6% and enshrined abortion on demand all 9 months of pregnancy with no protections in our Missouri Constitution.

Missouri Right to Life supports HB 1 and HS HCS HJR 3 and thanks Governor Kehoe and the House and Senate members who voted for these bills.

Missouri Right to Life Applauds Federal Court for Upholding the Defunding of “Big Abortion” Providers

Missouri Right to Life joins National Right to Life in praising the Federal Court for upholding the right of the Federal Government to decide what federal public tax dollars are used for. And our federal government has said we are not going to fund organizations that kill innocent babies at every stage of development through the horrendous dangerous abortion process. Nor are we going to pay for the mutilation of children’s sex organs that affect their ability to reproduce.

We thank the Federal Court for a common sense ruling. And thank you President Trump for leading this fight!

The following is from National Right to Life:

WASHINGTON — National Right to Life welcomes today’s ruling by a federal appellate court that lifts the injunction blocking the provision of the “One Big Beautiful Bill” which defunds major abortion providers. The provision prevents abortion providers—most notably Planned Parenthood—from receiving Medicaid funds if they exceed certain thresholds.
Today’s decision restores Congress’s ability to ensure taxpayer dollars are not used to subsidize the abortion industry.
“This ruling is a victory for unborn children and for taxpayers,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “No organization has a constitutional right to federal funds—especially when those funds enable the taking of innocent human life. With this decision, the courts respect the will of the people, through their elected representatives, that taxpayer dollars should not support an industry built on taking the lives of unborn babies.”

Make Missouri Pro-Life Again Banquet

We had a sell out crowd to hear Lara Trump as the keynote speaker. She energized the crowd with, “God has a purpose for every life, and every life is precious.”

Congressman Bob Onder was the recipient of the Champion of Life award. Because Congressman Onder had to be in Washington, receiving the award on his behalf was his wife, Allison Onder, and son Bobby (pictured below).

Thanks to all our guests who so generously supported the work of Missouri Right to Life and help us Make Missouri Pro-Life Again!

MRL Mourns the Tragic Death of Charlie Kirk

Charlie Kirk was a leader to a generation of young people that needed to hear the truth. Charlie spoke kindly and engaged respectfully about the truth on many issues and at the top of that list is that every human life from conception to natural death has value.

We pray for Charlie’s family and our nation as we remember his life.
