We had an inspirational Presbytery meeting via Zoom! Here are a few highlights from that meeting:

Guest speaker & preacher, the Rev. Dr. J. Herbert Nelson II, Stated Clerk of the PC (USA)
Unanimous approval to be a Matthew 25 Presbytery
Farewell and appreciation for Rev. Landon Whitsitt, Synod Executive, as he moves to Oklahoma City to start a new call as the Pastor/Head of Staff at Westminster Presbyterian Church
Celebration of retirements for Rev. Woody Berry (FPC, Mexico) and Rev. Bobbie Karchner (Longwood/Rangeline)
Farewell and appreciation for Rev. Brenda Holder (Versailles and Lake Churches), who will be moving back to Arkansas to be with family
Election of new members to serve on Presbytery committees (every position was filled!) Special thanks to the Nominating Committee for their work!

Presented by Rev. Dr. Leah D. Schade, Assistant Professor at Lexington Seminary.

Red state/blue state politics threaten the foundations of our democracy and rend the fabric of our churches. Congregations and church leaders require new perspectives and insights for navigating this difficult time. Rev. Dr. Leah Schade will offer an overview of “the purple zone” based on her research with pastors and congregations across the U.S. regarding the church and social issues. She will then introduce a method for engaging issues of public concern called the “sermon-dialogue-sermon” process which enables congregations to find the values that bind them together and respond faithfully to God's Word.

Rev. Dr. Leah Schade is the Assistant Professor of Preaching and Worship at Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, Kentucky.

Coffee with Colleagues

Missouri Union Presbytery continues its Zoom meetings for pastoral leaders. The group resumes meeting on a weekly basis in the fall.

Join us on those Wednesdays at 9:00 AM. The event is called “Coffee with Colleagues”. An announcement with the Zoom link was sent to pastors. If you did not receive the announcement and would like to join in, call the Presbytery office for log-in information.
