Hymnal 101 Rescheduled for January
On Saturday, January 25, at 3:00 p.m., special guest David Gambrell, contributing editor to the Glory to God hymnal and present Executive of PAM (Presbyterian Association of Musicians) in Louisville, Ky., will lead a session entitled  Hymnal 101  in the church sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson City.

He will describe the intensive planning that goes into the preparation of a hymnal that is intended to be used for the next twenty to thirty years. This is a particular challenge in a time of changing tastes in church music and a shift from printed material to digital sources.

The Saturday session will draw attention to the breadth of material in the new hymnal. Some hymns step back in time including selections such as  I Love to Tell the Story  and  Bringing in the Sheaves— hymns not appearing in Presbyterian hymn books for many years. Some of the steps forward encompass many new hymns and styles.
