Create a Parasite Workshop

Join Dr Gerrut Norval as he introduces different kinds of parasites and what they do, and then create your own parasite with clay.

Test Tube Craft

Embrace your inner scientist-artist during Science Week by making a DIY test tube flower holder at both libraries! Craft available while stock lasts, so be quick! No bookings required.

'Parasites Unmasked' Gallery Display

Dr Gerrut Norval is an ecologist with an interest in parasite-host associations. Take a close look at images and specimens of these intriguing parasites at Mitcham Memorial Library Gallery during August. No bookings required.

'The Boy & the Ball' Performance

A story about making a friend and how one friend can become many. This is a wondrous nonverbal performance with a little visual magic.

Parasites - the good, the bad and the ugly

Join Dr Gerrut Norval as he provides some insight into different forms of parasitism and their ecological roles, and why their conservation is warranted.

Friends in our food - zoonotic parasites

Join Dr Di Barton as she explores zoonotic parasites - what they are, how they get into food and things you should know.

STAFF PICKS!

Emma of 83rd Street

by Audrey Bellezza

A modern day retelling of Jane Austen's Emma with a hint of Fifty Shades of Grey. I enjoyed reading this fun, light tale set in Manhattan. Emma and Knightley do their best to ignore the obvious with mishaps and heartbreak along the way.

- Sophie

PLACE HOLD

Yellowface

by Rebecca F. Kuang

A darkly humorous, confronting and thought-provoking novel which incisively and cleverly comments on issues around identity, privilege, artistic integrity and more. I highly recommend!

- Lesley

PLACE HOLD

Demon Copperhead

by Barbara Kingsolver

This beautifully written ode to David Copperfield is also a love letter to Appalachia and an indictment of big pharma for creating the opioid epidemic that crushed a generation. The characters are complex and beautifully realised.
