TREASURES OF COASTAL MAINE

Down East magazine listed Boothbay Harbor as number two of Maine's prettiest villages.
Wonder why this is home base for me? There are lobster shacks on rickety docks, the rocky coastline of Ocean Point in East Boothbay, plus many of my favorite sites in the area. Click the image for details and registration

Thalo mixtures
HOW TO MIX NATURE GREENS

You can use virtually any green to capture a true nature green.  The secret is to NEVER START with green.  Nature greens are generally warm, so instead, start with a warm color such as yellow, orange, ochre or burnt Sienna.   THEN place a dab of green next to your warm color and slowly add a little of it into that color until you have a rich, natural green.  In the chart, I used that wicked Pthalo Green. (You buy only one tube in your lifetime, then pass it on to your children)  Let it sneak into the large warm colors with the result displayed in the mixed patch on top.  I do  have Pthalo Green on my palette and use it mostly for man-made objects such as roofs, shutters, plastic buckets, clothing, etc.  Notice also the wonderful grey created with Alizarin Crimson mixed with Pthalo Green.  Want to be on the safe side?  Use Sap Green to add to warm mixes.  Just use a variety of greens and remember, mostly warm.  Have fun!
OOOPS I forgot.   I have a DVD on that topic, available on my website below.
