RECENT NEWS AND ACTIVITIES

MARKET UPDATE

For the fifth straight month Downtown San Diego had a monthly visitor count above 3 million visitors. The employee count data shows nearly a 16% increase from this same time last year and a 74% increase from three years prior. Overall, it is the second highest employee count post-pandemic. In tracking the employee return, DSDP uses Placer.ai technology to estimate the average number of employees (office and retail) that visited their place of work in a particular month and compare with the same time in 2019/2020. Placer.ai technology tracks foot traffic through anonymized cell phone data and categorizes users in three categories – visitors, employees, and residents. As Downtown continues to move forward, access to real-time data is crucial. Click the button to read the full August report.
