Pushing the Hometown Heroes Assistance Program Over the Finish Line
Whether you are a firefighter, firefighter supporter or legislator, we need your help to get the Hometown Heroes Assistance Program (HF377 & SF 621) passed in 2021!

We've had some great momentum over the past few months and the Capitol is abuzz with constructive conversations about this legislation and firefighter health as a whole. The single most impactful thing you can do to help us? Call your legislator TODAY and tell them why you support the HHAP. You can find your local representatives and senators HERE.

We also want to take a moment to thank all of you who have lent your voice to this legislation so far. For some of you, that's been contacting your legislator or sharing about the HHAP on social media. For others, that's been writing about your passion for the topic in your local newspaper. In case you've missed them, you'll want to read the recent opinion pieces by former Fridley Fire Chief John Berg, former Cloquet Area Fire District Chief Kevin Schroeder, retired Rochester Fire Department Chief Greg Martin, and retired East Grand Forks Fire Chief Gary Larson.

If you think the only benefit you’ll get from participating MnFIRE training is valuable information to keep your department safe, think again! Our supplier partners have stepped up in a big way to donate valuable gear that we’re giving away as an extra thank-you to three departments who become MnFIRE Aware. 

• MacQueen Emergency has donated 35 Globe Guard Hoods. 

• MES and Fire-Dex have jointly provided 15 laminated particulate blocking hoods, as well as turnout gear wash and Shurguard sanitizer.

• Jefferson Fire and Safety has donated a TFT Decon Pak and 10 Honeywell Barrier Hoods. 

All you need to do is sign up for and complete at least one training session before June 30, 2021, and your department will be in the running to receive one of these great gear packages. If you’ve booked your session(s) or completed 2021 training, you’re already eligible and don’t need to do anything else.

In each of the next three months – April, May and June – we’ll be selecting a department to receive one of these gear packages. Keep your eyes on this space for more details about each package from our generous supporters and announcements about which department gets the gear.
