MARCH 2026

Well, another snowmobile season is coming to a close and we are sad to see the snow memories end! There were many wonderful events, meetings, rides, and people that we were able to celebrate with the last couple of months. We can't say a big enough THANK YOU to everyone for all they have done this past season help support snowmobiling in Minnesota!

Please remember, your local club might still need help! There is cleanup and paperwork that still needs to be finished before we can hang our helmets, and pull out our flip flops.

The Minnesota Snowmobiler magazine will stop issues now until September, but remember this Newsledder will come monthly and will be an important resource of communication! Stay tuned!

Finally, the spring season is a time to collect data about the past season. We kindly ask you all to please provide some feedback to all the surveys that would pertain to you as a member and/or your club officer.

WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK!

MnUSA is looking for all MnUSA member feedback, both positive and negative, on their experiences with AIL Insurance. Your responses will help the BOD determine if the continuation of this benefit is in the best interest of MnUSA and its members.

ATTN ALL SNOWMOBILER RIDERS: ISMA End of Year Survey

We hope you’ve enjoyed a great snowmobiling season so far. As our year wraps up, we are once again sending our ISMA End-Of Year Snowmobiler Survey – and we need your help.

This information is very important to the Snowmobile Community so that we have accurate data to best represent the positive impact of snowmobiling.

The insights gathered each year play a key role in helping us:

• Provide up-to-date statistics to government agencies, municipalities, and snowmobile associations.

• Highlight the economic impact of snowmobiling.

• Strengthen planning and advocacy efforts that support the future of our sport.

The more riders who participate, the stronger and more representative our data becomes. Your support in sharing this survey truly makes a difference.

Thank you for your help!

ATTN CLUBS: ISC Club Trail Volunteer Survey

The International Snowmobile Council (ISC) invites all MnUSA Clubs to participate in the Club Trail Volunteer Survey for 2025.

The purpose of this survey is to gather information about what it takes for a club and volunteer hours it takes to keep the trail maintained.

The ISC wants the information so that it can be shared with the public letting them know what it takes to create and maintain our snowmobile trails.

TAKE SURVEY HERE

Please complete the survey by April 30, 2026.

Should you have any questions please contact Len Neisler, ISC Charity and Volunteerism Chair, lenneisler@gmail.com or 317-507-5436.

The survey results will be presented to the International Snowmobile Council board meeting June 6, 2026. Then, we will provide you with a copy of the report.

We greatly appreciate your time and consideration for completing this survey.

ATTN: CLUBS AND SPONSORS! It is the end of another season and the DNR is sending out invitations for the spring Grant-In-Aid meetings held throughout the state. Make sure you check your emails and RSVP to attend!

MN SF1245

MnUSA RESPONSE

SF 1245 was laid over in committee last Thursday. It is now dead.

Before the hearing I spoke with the ATV lobbyists who told me how the various Facebook posts and comments hurt their cause. They agreed that they would have asked for our help if needed but as I mentioned in an earlier post, we all knew the bill was dead on arrival. In testimony, ATV Mn president Ron Potter emphatically disavowed the untrue, hateful and racist posts and communications (The committee chairman is Hmong). All testimony from both sides was respectful and well done.

MnUSA LEGISLATIVE RECEPTION

The MnUSA Legislative Reception was held Monday March 9th at the Best Western Capital Ridge right next to the state capital.

This year’s Legislative Agenda continues on from previous years with the request for a sales tax exemption for grooming materials, equipment, and trail work. Unfortunately this was not included in the final Omnibus bill last session, so we will try again.

Back again this year is the license plate request, for future funding to the snowmobile dedicated account for trails use, to fund benchmarks. Upon the suggestion of the author Andrew Myers, we did vote at the board meeting to join with the Mn Coalition of Lakeshore Associations and the Clean Water Coalition to have a broader base request and sales opportunities on the end, if we could get a winter user themed license plate passed.

Next up is the long-held tradition of protection of our Dedicated Fund and Gas Tax amount.

We have added the DNR Fraud Policy bill support as this is part of the license plate and the Artificial Intelligence fake registrations trail passes and the like, that the CO’s are seeing out in the field. The revisor number for the bill is 26-06077 under Sec. 4 Minnesota Statues 2024 section 84.82.

The event was well attended this year, with over 67 members in attendance and 27 legislators. We had close to 100 people jammed in that little room with lots of good conversations, and all left with our Legislative priorities in their hands.

Chaska Sno-Hawks Benefit for Maya Radtke

Chaska Sno-Hawks Benefit for Maya Radtke, was held on Saturday March 7th at the Dahlgreen Golf Course at Stick Tavern.

The ATV/UTV Ride was again a huge success this year with over 30 riders, which left Sticks at 10am and did a half circle around western Carver County returning around 3pm.

At 4pm the All you can Eat Chili Feed started and the doors opened to bid on Silent Auction Items and register for the many raffles going on at the same time.

On March 25th 2025, just one month after Maya Radke’s 3rd birthday she was diagnosed with B-cell Leukemia. What began with a cough and congestion, developed into persistent fever, extreme fatigue, and a pale complexion. After a doctor’s visit resulted in dangerously low blood counts, the family was headed directly to Children’s Hospital and treatment starting the next day. Maya proudly will tell anyone who’s within ear shot “I don’t have hair because I have Leukemia, it’s Ok, it will grow back later! “ Thankfully Maya is responding to treatment well, and if all goes as planned Maya’s last day of treatment will be July 3rd, 2027. We call all hope for that.

The family was very appreciative of the immense support of all those that helped to pull off this great event, with many donations, and volunteers to make this a very special event .
