WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO

The Broward MPO has received quite a bit of news coverage over the past few weeks. Catch up on some of the ways the MPO is working to increase the quality of life for all who live, work, and play in Broward!
On Tuesday, June 14 the Broward MPO hosted a training with Fred Pryor for staff. The MPO has grown to over 40 staff members and with our continued telework environment senior leadership is always looking for new ways to boost employee morale.
The MPO's Mobility Team met with representatives of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of Planning to present the Broward Complete Streets Initiative, plans, and programs evolution over the years, how it started and innovative ways to plan and implement complete streets in the region. FHWA is looking into doing a case study* with the Broward MPO involving Complete Streets efforts.

*This case study series, developed under the FHWA Transportation Capacity Building Program (TPCB), focuses on notable practices by metropolitan planning organizations in incorporating Complete Streets into transportation planning. The interview helps inform a proposed case study on the Broward MPO Policy to Promote Complete Streets and related Complete Streets practices.

The MPO and its partners are working together to take a more proactive approach to planning and managing growth and transportation investments. The MPO's Path to 2100 is an aspirational vision that advocates a paradigm shift in the Broward region’s approach to growth, development, and transportation investment. In laymen's terms, we are planning with future generations in mind.

Our partnership with the South Florida Business and Wealth Magazine and Florida Atlantic University for the Vision 2100 series does great job at sheading light on various transportation solutions we will see over the next several years.

Save the date, Wednesday, July 27, as we are preparing for episode two of the Vision 2100. More details are soon to come.
