MPO REWIND
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance held its Annual Mid-Year luncheon at the Seminole Hard Rock & Casino on May 20. The Broward MPO was one of many proud sponsors of the distinguished event! Former Florida governor, Jeb Bush was this year's keynote speaker. Alliance President and CEO Bob Swindell, and Alliance Vice-Chair Broward College President Gregory Haile shared exciting advances and economic news in the Greater Fort Lauderdale region and how we plan to progress in the future. There were over 700 people in attendance, and all attendees received the Broward MPO's 2022 State of the System report.
OFFICE CLOSURE

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, the Broward MPO office will be closed today, Monday, May 30. The office will resume normal operations on Tuesday, May 31.

VISION 2100 PANEL

Have you heard the great news? The Broward MPO is partnering with the South Florida Business and Wealth Magazine (SFBW), and Flordia Atlantic University (FAU) for the return of the Vision 2100 panel series!

The series will kick off on Tuesday, June 7, at 2:00 p.m. with a panel discussion on congestion management and innovative transportation solutions. Join us to learn more about the groundbreaking transportation solutions that can increase connectivity in our region!
STATE OF THE SYSTEM

Our 2022 State of the Systems report is hot off the press! This report is a snapshot of commuting trends, housing, and the state of the highway system in Broward. For example, did you know on average, drivers in Broward spent 28.9 minutes commuting to work per trip?
OUR LATEST BTACTICAL PROJECT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!

The BTactical Lake Ridge installation went off without a hitch! Pretty native birds in flight now line the street as an eye-catching piece of art in the freshly painted protected bike lanes along NE 15th Avenue.” The Broward MPO partnered with the City of Fort Lauderdale and the Lake Ridge Civic Association to create solutions that address multimodal safety, accessibility, and connectivity. During the four-day installation, volunteers of all ages helped paint striped bike lanes, curb extensions, crosswalks, asphalt art, and plant lush landscaping to further enhance the pedestrian experience and connect the Lake Ridge Community! Thank you to everyone who participated!

The Association of Metropolitan Organizations (AMPO) is accepting nominations for the 2022 AMPO Awards! Do you know someone who should be recognized for their outstanding achievements in transportation? Nominate them today!
HURRICANE PREP

We are two days away from the start of Hurricane Season (June 1 - November 30)! Make sure you and your family are prepared this hurricane season by practicing your emergency preparedness plan and making sure you have the resources necessary to stay informed and proactive!

You still have time to take advantage of the Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday to build your emergency kit! The Sales Tax holiday will run through Friday, June 10.

BIKE INFRASTRUCTURE ROUNDTABLE
On Tuesday, June 28th, at 2:00 p.m. experts from the League of American Bicyclists, MassDOT, and the Association of Pedestrian & Bicycle Professionals will gather for a Bike Infrastructure Roundtable hosted by Streetlight Data.

Learn how leaders in active transportation planning utilize data to prioritize
bicycle and pedestrian improvements and advocate for funding.
THE STATE ROAD 84 WESTBOUND BRIDGE IS NOW OPEN!

Our partner, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District 4, has been working hard on this project as part of the 95 Express Phase 3c construction project. The project began in the summer of 2019 and it is on track to be completed by spring 2025.
