Mobility Monday
Move People & Goods | Create Jobs | Strengthen Communities

In honor of National Work Zone Awareness Week, our partner, FDOT is leading a statewide effort to help save and protect lives within work zones. As workers do their part to improve, rebuild, and maintain our roadways, motorists should use extra caution, adhere to all posted work zone speed limits, and remove all distractions for safety.

Here are a couple of grant opportunities to help you fund projects in your community. Check out the grant opportunities at the links below.

Board Member Beverly Williams was honored as a Garden Champion in the April-May National Wildlife Federation (NWF) Magazine. Board Member Williams oversees two community gardens in Lauderdale Lakes, the Frank J. Coleman Community Garden and the Children's Community Garden. Both community gardens donate to local seniors by supplementing food from Florida’s Farm Share program.

Through NWF’s Community Wildlife Habitat™ program, Board Member Williams also educates children and families beyond the community garden by supporting pollinator gardens at schools and native tree giveaways throughout Lauderdale Lakes.

The Hollywood Mobility Hub is moving into procurement! The Broward MPO has allocated 1 million dollars to advance the Hollywood Boulevard / State Road 7 (SR7) study recommendations into design and construction. The Hollywood Mobility Hub improvements will include bus shelters, pedestrian-scale lighting, pedestrian and bicycle connections to the neighborhoods, and other transit amenities. This project will complement other investments, such as FDOT's roadway expansion along SR7 and the City of Hollywood's linear park north of the Mobility Hub location.

Stay tuned for more updates!

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month! New National Safety Council (NSC) estimates show that our roads are the most dangerous they’ve been in years; on a typical day, eight people are killed, and hundreds more are injured in distraction-affected crashes. Our partner, NSC is raising awareness by asking commuters to take their Just Drive Pledge. Signees are committing to remaining alert when operating their motor vehicle. Sign the pledge today!
