2024-2025 MPA Board Nominations
It is time to collect nominations for our MPA Board position openings for the 2024-2025 school year. MPA Parents (all SHMS parents) may choose to self-nominate or nominate another person for any of the open positions. MPA President, Celia Catlett, and Ms. Mullen will contact eligible nominees to see if they would like to be included on the ballot later in March.
The MPA needs to fill the following positions for the 2024-2025 school year:
Co-President
The Co-President will assist the President in coordinating the affairs of the MPA. In the second year of the elected term, the Co-President will serve as President.
Volunteer Coordinator Position
This is one of two Volunteer Coordinator positions. The Volunteer Coordinators will be elected every other year so their positions overlap. The Volunteer Coordinators will work together to solicit volunteers for all MPA events.
Please use this form to self-nominate or nominate a current SHMS parent for the MPA Board position of Co-President or Volunteer Coordinator. https://forms.gle/K2TshAFpSedKtRrg9

Elise Myers - President
Jason Underwood - Vice-President/Secretary

The Parable of the Found Sheep
“Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders and rejoices. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’” Luke 15:4-6

In the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd atrium, because Christ is the fullest manifestation of God, we center on the person of Jesus when speaking with children about God’s love. We focus especially on Jesus as the Good Shepherd.
The sheep listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd, The Shepherd knows and calls the sheep by name. The element of the parable that the children resonate with the most is the fact that the Good Shepherd knows and calls each sheep by name. This reveals in an explicit way that the Good Shepherd has a personal relationship with each of us.
His sheep follow Him because they know his voice in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Atrium, the children know that the Shepherd is close to his sheep and provides for their constant care. They delight in the sheep’s response to listening to and trusting his voice and are happy to be close to him.
The image of the shepherd who searches for his sheep that was lost has a great impact on children. For the little child this parable offers yet another proof of the Good Shepherd’s infinite love.
As the children grow and spend more time in the Atrium, it becomes clear to them that Jesus is the Good Shepherd and that they are the sheep. This is not something we explicitly tell the children, rather, we allow them to come to this truth through their work with the materials and their prayer.

School Closure/Digital Learning Reminder
SHMS has used our one day built-in to the schedule for school closure due to inclement weather. This is formerly known as a snow day.
Every subsequent day(s) after that, when school is cancelled for inclement weather, will be digital learning days. This includes non-concurrent days off school due to inclement weather. Our communication to parents through Toddle and social media will indicate when a school closure day is a digital learning day.
In November you received directions from your child(ren)’s homeroom teacher about their digital learning schedule and procedure for communication. Please revisit that communication and seek clarification from your child(ren)’s teacher if needed.
