November 3, 2023

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Matthew 5:3

On Wednesday we celebrated All Saints’ Day at Sacred Heart Model School. We came together as a school for a beautiful celebration. Our Level 5 students shared with us a parade of saints, Mrs. Elliott’s class did a great job leading the Mass, and Mr. Christ’s class did a beautiful job as the choir. I told the students at the Mass that everyday I feel proud to be their Principal, but that on November 1 I felt exceptionally proud and blessed to be able to celebrate All Saints Day together.

Throughout the Church’s history, we have honored saints, but not to set them apart. We honor Saints to remind us what is possible for a person who loves God. The saints have stories as varied as our own. We are students, teachers, lay people, doctors, martyrs, religious women and men, bishops, soldiers, single mothers and fathers, the list goes on. On the Solemnity of All Saints, we remember this garden of holiness , rich with diverse flowerings of a holy life. When you look at the life of your favorite saint, ask yourself, “How can I imitate this person? What is possible for me when I love God with all of my heart?” We say often that we get to work with future saints every day. Your children, our students, are called to holiness. No doubt, we are working with future saints!

Please see above for the day/time each grade level will have their special Thanksgiving meal. The meal includes traditional Thanksgiving foods. The cost is $15.00 for adult guests and $12.00 for students/sibling guests. Students choosing not to purchase the Thanksgiving meal may bring a lunch from home.

The Thanksgiving lunch is a fixed menu in order to accommodate the high volume of guests. We cannot honor special requests. All lunch plates will consist of roasted sliced chicken, dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry relish, a roll, and dessert.

Students will eat lunch in their classrooms on their three non-Thanksgiving lunch days. Students are to bring lunch from home or purchase a sack lunch from SAGE for $6.00 on these days. As always, no fast food may be brought in for lunch.

Providing lunches for all students and guests on these days requires much planning. In order to assist us, we ask you to:

  • PREPAY - Prepay for all meals for students and guests by submitting a check to the school office made payable to SAGE or by adding funds to your child(ren)'s MyKidsSpending account by Friday, November 3, 2023. Those students on the Meal Plan only need to pay for guests.

We look forward to sharing this special occasion with you and your family!

Shining Accomplishments

For the month of October, we focused on the learner profile trait of principled. One new way we are acknowledging the accomplishments of our students is by recognizing when they exhibit the learner profile trait for the month. Students are nominated by their teachers. Once they are nominated they have their pictures taken and are added to our “Let Your Heart Shine Board” outside the dining room. Their pictures join the biographies of famous leaders who also are principled. Please congratulate the following students for being principled.
