MCC Moderator Nominating Committee
Selects Moderator Slate
for General Conference Vote
1 March 2019

Dear Saints of Metropolitan Community Churches,

Nine months ago the 2019 Moderator Nominating Committee (MNC) was formed and tasked with the following:

Charge to the Moderator Nominating Committee per UFMCC Bylaws Article V.E.2.a:

“MODERATOR NOMINATING COMMITTEE: The Governing Board shall appoint a Moderator Nominating Committee of five (5) persons. The responsibility of the Moderator Nominating Committee is to actively solicit candidates for the position, review any and all applications, and select up to five (5) qualified candidates. The qualified candidates shall be presented by the Governing Board to the General Conference for election.”

All five members of the MNC have undertaken this task with the utmost commitment to ensure a process that is respectful, transparent, honest, and accountable. We have all worked very hard to listen to the voices of MCC, to be in prayer and fellowship with one another, and to think deeply and carefully regarding every decision that has had to be made during this process. We have been committed to be continually focused on the goal of providing the General Conference with a slate of candidates, each of whom we believe would be an exceptional leader for the future of MCC.

After careful consideration, discernment, and prayer, we are pleased to inform you that we have selected a slate of three (3) candidates for the Office of the Moderator position. The MCC Moderator Nominating Committee has truly appreciated the opportunity to be in dialogue with each one of the candidates during the interview process. We very much enjoyed interviewing each one of the candidates to discuss the Office and role of Moderator. It was a pleasure to learn more about each of the candidates' skills and accomplishments and their aspirations for the future of MCC.
We are sincerely thankful for the time, thought, and prayers that were offered on each one of the candidates’ part, and for providing us with their credentials for consideration.

The slate of three (3) candidates consists of (in alphabetical order):
Ms. Elizabeth Bisordi
Rev. Elder Cecilia Eggleston
Rev. Elder Tony Freeman
Ms. Elizabeth Bisordi , Vice-Moderator, Board of Directors, Suncoast MCC, Venice, Florida, USA. Access candidate page at

Rev. Elder Cecilia Eggleston , Radstock, Somerset, England. Access candidate page at

Rev. Elder Tony Freeman , Interim Senior Pastor, MCC of the Palm Beaches, Florida, USA. Access candidate page at

Please know we have not taken this decision lightly and have done our due diligence throughout this process in an effort to be as transparent as possible, and we will continue to do so up until General Conference in Orlando, Florida, USA, in July, 2019.

We realise that these candidates may not be known to all in MCC. Soon the MNC website will be updated with information about each candidate, including an introductory video, resume and a brief biography. This can be accessed at:

A "Meet the Candidates" webinar has also been scheduled where candidates will have an opportunity to introduce themselves. There will also be a time for you to ask questions of the candidates. These will take place at the following times:

  • 2 April 2019-11:00am EST / 16:00 UTC (English)
  • 2 April 2019 - 7:00pm EST / 00:00 am 3 April UTC (Spanish)
  • 4 April 2019- 7:00pm EST / 00:00 am 5 April UTC (English)

The link to access these webinars is:

In addition, each candidate will have the opportunity to host an individual moderated one-hour "town hall" webinar to introduce themselves to MCC and to answer questions.
We have asked the candidates to pass along any questions that they may each receive personally to the MNC for reply so we can ensure that there is equity and fairness across the slate.

We remain in prayer for MCC, for the candidates and for the General Conference, and we firmly believe in the future of MCC and the hope that MCC speaks into the world.

Faithfully Yours in Christ,

2019 Moderator Nominating Committee
