Working within the existing footprint of the 63 square foot bathroom, we solved leaking problems and freshened up the look. I'm not a fan of gendered spaces for kids (or adults, for that matter) and I am a fan of color and fun!
Recently I spent a week with my family at our cousin's Gold LEED certified (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) beach house on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I studied the many ways she has made her home sustainable and healthy. I really love this locally (to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida) sourced soap. I spoke with the owner Celeste Cobena who gave me a mini tutorial. Read on!
Wash Your Hands is a true soap (ie. not a detergent or surfactant which are not made with natural ingredients). Saponification is the process by which oils (triglycerides) are mixed with potassium hydroxide (KOH, aka potash) and heated to produce "soap". The blend of essential oils in this soap can effectively kill bacteria without making it resistant. As the label says, various essential oils have been used for hundreds of years.
To order your own soap, phone or text Celeste at 850-267-2227. You can also follow and instant message on Facebook to see other natural soap products. And when you're in Seaside, Florida find The Soap Pedaler at the year-round Farmer's Market.
