The fickle weather… road construction coming to an end as winter approaches… welcoming Modo Co-Founder Jess Robertson… Watching and still wondering what happened to Emma in Norway… LOVING the vegan ice cream a…. excitement for KJ and Emma as they recently applied for Modo St. Paul!!…. Brandyn’s Yes Health Challenge beginning October 4th… trying out some Ridgeback yoga rugs on October 19 and 20… sending well wishes to dedicated yogi, Derya Saribal, as she heads home to Turkey for a couple of months… prepping for our new member software program called Mariana Tek - it’s gonna be GREAT!! 
WORKSHOP WITH MODO YOGA CO-FOUNDER JESS ROBERTSON
Join Jess Robertson, co founder of Modo Yoga, to explore the science of breathing as well as breathing techniques for immune function, focus, energy and rest. A short Yin practice with live music will be followed by deep Breathwork and a restorative Yoga Sleep.

LAYERS CLASS with MICHELL HENKEL
This is yoga based class that will explore creative movement and breath work.  It will invite you to witness what comes up physically, emotionally, and mentally. And as you begin to trust the process you will find the space to release the layers of resistance. This is a practice of self study through the physical conditioning. You will feel yourself come home.
ETIQUETTE TIPS
Here is a cool thing you may have heard us share about practicing before, but definitely bears repeating. When we practice on our mats in the hot room, the beauty of non-dualism is with us: we are in our own personal sacred space, and at the very same time we are in a shared communal space. 

The energy and intention that each of us brings to practices shifts the dynamic of shared group energy. To support the collective work of our entire sangha, these are our shared guidelines. 

  • We enter a shared space for 60 mindful minutes together. For this reason we do not allow students into class once we have started. By the same token, if you cannot stay until the end of practice please do not choose that class time. 

  • We want our shared space to feel as safe and supportive as possible. For this reason, we invite you to finish your cell phone calls in our phone zone BEFORE entering our studio space. We understand that your work and family are important, and we dig that you make time for your practice- it can be a balancing act! This is why we have comfortable seating in our vestibule space for your to finish your calls before entering our shared space.
 
  • Our vestibule space is also an amazing place to talk motivating selfies before class and sweaty ones after class. For the safety of all we absolutely do not allow taking photos in our change rooms.

Five Cues for Transitions On and Off the Mat
Change is exciting and necessary, but it can also stir up a lot of other feelings. I have been experiencing this a lot recently as I transition to home ownership from renting and am exploring a career change. On a day particularly anxiety-prone — moving day — I made it to the yoga studio. While moving through class with my mind racing, I was struck by the encouragement woven into the transitional cues given by the instructor – from downward dog, “Look forward, move forward” and so on. I was able to center myself around these cues and realized that perhaps I needed to take some off the matt too.
