What are the construction work hours?
For the current intersection work: 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. The upcoming paving will be at night: Sunday through Thursday nights, from 7 pm to 7 am the next day.
What is happening in the intersections?
The construction activities include removing the old concrete ramps, electrical work at the signalized intersections, grading the ramp areas, and pouring the new ramps. The ramps take several days to cure before they can open to the public.
Why do the current ramps need replacement?
We are upgrading existing ramps to be compliant with the 1990 Americans with Disability Act requirements.
How are vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles impacted during construction?
The existing sidewalk ramps are closed and there is a posted detour route for pedestrians and cyclists. Businesses and residences are accessible to vehicles.
The streets look in pretty good shape, why is construction happening now?
It is much less expensive to re-pave streets before damage happens to the sub-surface layers. Repairing the streets now will save significant funds in the long term.
