~ Weekly MomMemo ~
Dear Mom,

Not long ago, baseball really was America's favorite pastime. For many of us, family summer activities often had baseball in the background as a source of friendly rivalry and camaraderie. We could always be assured that our flag would fly over every game and every player and fan would treat the flag with respect.

In the turbulent time we find ourselves, even baseball has become a battleground for radical political movements and anti-American displays. On opening day of the MLB, delayed four months due to COVID-19, the players knelt in honor of a divisive and anti-Christian political movement . The MLB even changed its logo to BLM . Every player from the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and Washington Nationals knelt in salute to Black Lives Matter...except one. Some of players remained kneeling for the national anthem.
That one player who refused to take a knee, San Francisco Giants reliever Sam Coonrod ,gives us a lesson in courage and conviction. Coonrod said , "I'm a Christian. I can't get on board on a couple of things I've read about Black Lives Matter, how they lean toward Marxism and said some negative things about the nuclear family." Coonrod is right. The violent protests tearing our nation apart are not seeking unity and justice. What we are witnessing is political activists attempting to overthrow our nation with socialism.

Coonrod added, "I don't think I'm better than anybody. I'm just a Christian. I believe I can't kneel before anything but God, Jesus Christ. I chose not to kneel. " When one person has the courage to stand for their convictions, the rest of the world will take notice.
Are you ready to be the one person willing to stand for the Truth? It's not just baseball that's under attack. As public school teachers demand defunding the police and our children are traumatized by excessive and draconian responses to the pandemic , our values may be put to the test. In moments of trial, we must remember that our children are watching us; they look to us to know who we serve and what we value.

What can we teach them about our faith and freedom? What our children learn from us today determines the fate of our nation tomorrow. Ensuring the enduring legacy of America's founding principles begins at home.

From this month's MomLinks Magazine :
"2020 has been an odd year to say the least. We wake up every morning to more news of coronavirus shutdowns, violence, looting, American Statues being ripped down and defaced and we wonder, how did we get here? How can American citizens destroy their country like this? It seems like it happened overnight. The truth is the groundwork was laid decades ago as our story has been rewritten in the classroom, the media, and every facet of our society. Our changing story has led to a cultural revolution, initiated by politicians and perpetrated by our own youth."
