Momentary Paradise

More and more I am hearing of people wanting an escape.

Someone told me they wanted to escape to the paradise of the islands for vacation and never come back.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the islands, too, but might that be just a temporary fix?

Many feel paradise would be anywhere but quarantine and make a choice that is not in their highest and best.

In fact, statistics show record levels of people finding unhealthy escapes and coping mechanisms such as alcohol, drugs, over-indulging in forms of media and so on. All in an effort to feel better, but often leading to negative outcomes such as depression.

Sunday we will continue our series on “Thrive” - the UoD theme word for the year. Thriving means much more than experiencing a temporary fix. Through Spirit, we can expand, connect and fulfill our purpose. We can achieve our goals at an enhanced level facing difficulties head on.

We appreciate all that God is no matter what is manifesting in front of us. There is no need to escape from Truth!

Let’s Thrive,
Rev. James

  • Physical distancing is required.
  • In the sanctuary, rows are marked for safe seating.
  • Ushers won’t be collecting tithes and offerings at the end of service, so we’ve placed a collection box just outside the sanctuary.
  • First-floor restrooms are available with a 2-person maximum.
  • For your convenience, we’ve placed hand-sanitizing stations at both building entrances and the balcony stairwell. You can also utilize your own personal wipes.
