Momentum is Building

PDI Fellows Academy Launches Regional Competitiveness Action

Momentum continues to build for Global Action Platform's inaugural Porter Development Initiative Fellows Academy at Vanderbilt University this June.

The Academy is a highly selective invitation-only initiative convening senior leaders from business, investment, universities, government, foundations, finance, and nonprofits across Tennessee and adjoining states to strengthen long-term regional competitiveness and shared prosperity.

The Academy is an immersive, strategic executive working forum focused on practical regional action and cross-sector collaboration.  Major milestones achieved include:

  • 300 cross-sector executive leaders mobilized to advance competitiveness;
  • Tennessee Competitiveness Scorecard and 8 Regional Cluster FactBooks published for the Academy by the U.S. Cluster Mapping Project;
  • Distinguished Academy faculty and speakers engaged;
  • Regional Fellows Orientation Sessions scheduled across the Midsouth; and
  • Capstone Program on Research, Innovation Hubs, and Competitiveness confirmed.

The Academy distinctively combines:

  • Harvard Business School executive case study curriculum,
  • Regional competitiveness research and cluster analysis from the US Cluster Mapping Service,
  • Innovation ecosystem and workforce asset inventories, and
  • Collaborative regional action planning to increase competitiveness.

We are deeply grateful to the regional Chairs, Steering Committee members, universities, sponsors, and Fellows helping make this statewide initiative possible.

Global Action Platform was launched in 2012 by leading corporations and universities to advance scalable, sustainable solutions for abundant food, health, and prosperity. Currently GAP has programs in Tennessee, Virginia, Singapore, and the Philippines.
