Dear friend in Christ,
"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."
2 Corinthians 3:17
We celebrated Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit, this month. Pentecost is not simply a commemorative feast which comes once a year, 50 days after Easter; it's a time to recognize that the Spirit is here with us
now. We see the Spirit in action when we are freed from being overwhelmed by responsibilities of daily life and we allow ourselves to become the channels through which God's love can freely flow into the world.
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped to keep other channels flowing; namely, the pipes and plumbing at Saint Scholastica Convent in St. Cloud, where our older and sick sisters live. We asked some of you to help with the cost and we are overwhelmed by the generosity of your response. Thank you. If anyone else would like to donate, you can do so
online or mail a check to the monastery (address at the foot of this letter).
May these summer days bring you joy and may the Spirit fill
your spirit.
Blessings,

Pat Kennedy

"Saint George and the Dragon" by the hand of Pat Kennedy, OSB. May 20 to May 24, 2019.
Holy icons are a visual language (iconography). This image of Saint George and the dragon was written (painted) according to an emerging technique rooted in the Byzantine tradition. Art history identifies iconography as the visual language of the Orthodox Church.
