Mondak Sports adds New Towboat Line
Williston Economic Development News Release - Mondak Sports in Wlliston has announced it is adding a new towboat line to its inventory. Owner Joshua Kringen says their first Nautique model is expected to arrive in October 2020. “Nautique is a high-quality towboat that is designed for surfing, wakeboarding and skiing. They do everything,” said Kringen. The Nautique lineup will be housed at Mondak Sports’ new location at 1008 East Broadway. Read More
Williston STAR Fund assists New Cosmetology School
City of Williston News Release - Opening its doors in 2021, the Hair Society Institute of Cosmetology (HSI) will be the first cosmetology school in western North Dakota and eastern Montana. Located at 11 East Broadway, HSI will be co-owned and operated by Leticia Ortiz and Cynthia Gonzalez. Hair Safari salon, opened in 2010, will still operate in the building. What started as an answer to the question, “What would we do if we won $50,000?”, the idea for HSI blossomed into a 2-year team effort to make it a reality. Between the two single moms, Ortiz and Gonzalez have 37 years of industry experience. While both love their careers, they are also aware of, and have felt, the physical demands of their profession. 1 Million Cups: Cooks on Main Owner discusses Dealing with COVID-19 in 2020
Williston Economic Development News Release - Angela Skogen, owner of Cooks on Main in Downtown Williston, was the featured presenter at 1 Million Cups on Wednesday, September 2. Skogen also provided coffee, fruit and muffins for attendees. Skogen discussed how Cooks on Main has handled the challenges caused by COVID-19 in 2020. Williams County commits $500,000 to New Child Care Facility

Williston Herald - One of the persistent problems Williston has faced while growing out community services to serve the needs of a suddenly outsized labor force is adequate space in child care facilities. Williams County has agreed to contribute up to $500,000 toward helping to solve that issue, along with Williston, which would contribute the other half, and Williston State College, which would provide both a building and a program for a new day care on the college campus. Williston's Hi-Line Construction makes Customized Cornhole Boards
KXMD-TV - Hi-Line Construction employees in Williston have dedicated their leisure time to making cornhole boards and bags. Everything is custom made to the customer’s request and takes only a few days to receive. The manager of the business tells KX news he and his team are making nearly 100 boards a week. “We’re not using your standard every day plywood 2×4 sides. Everything is built to ACL standards." New PSG Flame Resistant and Workwear opens in Williston
KXMD-TV - The PSG Flame Resistant and Workwear store can now be found off of Highway 2, just north of Williston. KX News spoke with an employee who says the old location was just a little too small to carry out their everyday duties. Things such as laundry, embroidering and every day inventory sales. She says this new location only opens up more opportunities. Read More
TracFrac receives $500,000 Innovation Technology Loan from BND
Williston Herald - A Bakken-born company has spread its wings nationwide with a software portal that helps oil and gas companies manage required regulatory notifications for hydraulic fracturing between neighbors. It’s getting a little help from the North Dakota LIFT fund to fly a little higher still. The company is called TracFrac. It was recently awarded $500,000 from the North Dakota Innovation Technology Loan Fund through the Bank of North Dakota. Read More
New Owners purchase Tioga Restaurant
KXMD-TV - “We were living in Chicago when we saw this restaurant opportunity come up,” said co-owner of AJ Cafe Janna Roloff. That opportunity laid right in Janna’s hometown in Tioga at an abandoned building, a place that holds a special place in her heart. “I had my first job here in this building at the ‘Drive in’, and now it’s AJ Cafe.” she said. The two have since hit the ground running, making strides in their remodeling process to only be struck by COVID-19. Read More
New Elementary School eases Overcrowding in McKenzie County School District
McKenzie County Farmer - When the new Fox Hills Elementary School opens on Sept. 8, it will be the first time in the past 10 years that the McKenzie County Public School District No. 1 has not had to deal with overcrowded buildings and classrooms. As Watford City’s schools have seen enrollment swell from 582 to over 1,800 students in the past 10 years, the school district has been scrambling to remodel its existing buildings and build new schools to accommodate the growth. CVB, JMAC to hold Joint Event September 19 at Harmon Park
CVB News Release - The Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau and The James Memorial Art Center are pleased to announce plans for a community celebration to be held September 19, in Harmon Park in conjunction with Artfest. This year has been a year of adjustment. Band Day traditionally occurs over Mother’s Day weekend. This year, it was rescheduled for September due to COVID-19. Artfest is held annually in the late summer. Read More
