NO RETIREMENT

It would be easy to take the easy way of retirement at my age, but I see nothing in scripture that says we are to retire when you are called by God to minister to the saints. 

Many years ago, I visited a church in southwest Florida. The Pastor told us what had taken place a few years earlier at an Assembly of God annual meeting. He was the moderator and had asked this question of the several hundred pastors that were in attendance: “If anyone has had someone saved in their church in the past year, please raise your hand.”

The response was astounding. Only one or two pastors out of those hundreds raised their hands. This is not the exception my friends. This is what is happening throughout the body of Christ.

Several years ago, I was asked to be part of a revival meeting by being the one in charge of soulwinning. The group leaders held a meeting, and several local pastors were there. I asked the same question to the group: “Has anyone been saved in your church this year?” No one raised their hands. I was shocked. This question actually offended several of the pastors. Offended? Yes, because they were put on the spot. How sad that this is the state of many churches.

We have visited several Pentecostal churches and found there was rarely a message given in tongues or a prophetic word given. I have been instructed by the Lord on various occasions to share with the Pastor a prophetic word that God had given me for them. In some cases, it was received and in others it wasn’t.

How sad God must be to have poured out his Spirit on his people at Pentecost, but they are nothing like that today. The church as a whole is living like the church at Laodicea, where they were found to be neither hot nor cold. We are warned if that is the case that we will be spit out of the mouth of the Lord. [Revelation 3:16]

Why am I writing this? I want to stir you up. I want you to have genuine concern for those that are lost. I want you to find the heart of the Father for lost souls that Jesus gave his life for. This is why I do not retire, because there are souls that need instruction. There are lives that need Jesus. One person can make a difference.

I pray that you make a difference for God’s kingdom and not be found lukewarm. If you are “hot” for Jesus, I commend you. Keep up the good work.
