A SPIRIT OF ADDICTION

Alcohol, nicotine, and drugs are known for creating addictions in people. An addiction, whatever it may be, makes you a slave to the addictive substance. It is more than just a physical issue. It has a spiritual source. 

Everything that is physical has its origin from the spiritual realm. God is a Spirit; He created everything that is physical, so all things physical came from the spirit realm.

An addiction to anything originates from the spiritual realm. The root of the addiction comes from a demonic source. Teen Challenge© has been successful because it deals with the spiritual causes of addictions. Dealing with addictions from a purely physical point of view has a poor track record. It needs to be dealt with at its spiritual root through deliverance from the demonic oppression.

Take a tobacco smoker who quits as an example. He is not delivered. One cigarette can put him right back into the addiction. Likewise, an alcoholic, or drug addict who quits would be addicted again if they go back to it even once. The reason for this is that they never had a spiritual deliverance. Their “quitting” was only done through the flesh and the soul (mind, will, emotions).

Remember, everything in the physical realm had its origin in the spiritual realm. How is that? It is because God is a spirit, and He created all things that are visible and invisible. They were created by the invisible power of the Holy Spirit.

Albert Einstein proved the relation scientifically with the relationship between matter and energy. The formula is E=MC². E represents energy; M is physical matter; and C is a constant ratio unique to the physical matter.

The Holy Spirit is not matter. He is power or energy. He gives “life energy, or power.” However, since matter and energy are two forms of the same thing, energy from the spirit realm can impact the physical in a positive or negative way. The negative way can cause addictions or diseases. Likewise, the power or energy from the Holy Spirit can overcome addictions or diseases.

God supplies His positive power [energy] by connecting our human spirit with the Holy Spirit by faith to bring physical wellness to our body.

In Genesis chapters 1-3, we see God moving upon the earth by the power of the Holy Spirit that created all living things. That same power is available to every believer to overcome addictions through God’s word and through the power of the Holy Spirit.

THE SEED PART 8

MOSES PART 2

Moses’ life was spared when the princess found him. She raised him as her son to be a prince in the royal family. His natural mother had influence on him and told him about his heritage as an Israelite from the tribe of Levi. 

In Exodus 2 we see that Moses had become a grown man. He saw an Egyptian smiting one of the Hebrew slaves. When he saw no one was looking, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. The next day he saw two Hebrews fighting and asked them why they were doing this. In Exodus 2:14 one of them answered him and said, “…Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? Intendest thou to kill me as thou killed the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.”

When Pharaoh learned what Moses had done to the Egyptian, he decided to kill Moses. But once again, God preserved the seed when Moses fled to Midian. There he met the seven daughters of a Midian priest. After helping them draw water he was invited to their home, and he was content to dwell with them. Moses was given one of the priest’s daughters, Zipporah, to be his wife and they had a son, Gershom. [Exodus 2:16-22]

Moses had been taught as a child that he had a great destiny, but that destiny would be put on hold for forty years. Like Moses, when we fail, we often do not come into our destiny until we have been tried and proven to be able to fulfill it. Often, it may take years before things are ready for you to fulfill God’s plan. 

You could say that Moses was on the backside of the desert, where many of us might be. Everything would change in one day for him. God had not forgotten the promise. He heard the cries of the Israelites that were in bondage and would respond positively to that cry.

Tomorrow we will learn how Moses responded to God’s call to preserve the seed and save Israel from slavery.
