Concerning the stained glass windows for the Trinity United Methodist Church project, I must clarify my part in the creative process. As I mentioned before, I am a Professional Interior Designer and in the case of stained glass windows, I provided the concept, which included the creative design, the colored drawings, and any text and/or memorial notes. These are then usually approved by a “committee” (after all we are a Methodist Church). Then the concept(s) are turned over to the craftsman that work up the design up in stained glass after taking detailed measurements of the planned space. I, myself, do not do the stained glass work. This process is better shown in the following project which was done for the chapel at Monzano del Sol Retirement facility here in Albuquerque. Manzano del Sol is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society. Both Trinity and St. John’s UMC’s have had in the past and still do have some members living at this facility. In fact, the St. John’s Joy Singers have given a number of concerts there these past few years. The 3rd photo below was taken in December 2014 and gives one an idea of the size of this project and is showing Joy Singers seated in front of said window.

If one was to put my efforts in designing a stained glass window in to musical terms, as the designer you might consider my part as the composer - working out the composition, the arrangement of notes and in some cases the lyrics, The stained glass craftsmen (and women), orchestrate all the instruments into a cohesive ensemble. (Art Tatkowski Studios crafted, assembled, and installed the stained glass windows that I designed for both Trinity UMC and Manzano del Sol.) So one might say (1) I did the composition, (2) Art Tatkowski Studios orchestrated the ensemble, (3) but it is the LIGHT from our Creator God in heaven that really makes the window sing.

SEPTEMBER SPECIAL OFFERING: Sacramento Methodist Assembly
As summer winds up this year, let's pause and remember the church camp experiences of our lives, wherever they may be.
You may remember youth camps, women's or men's conferences, marriage retreats, lay speaker schools and many more events Some people made their first commitment to Christ in a camp setting. Most remember growing closer to God.
Sadly, this year most events at Sacramento and other camps were canceled by Covid resulting in not only lots of disappointment, but also serious financial hardship. We at St. John's have the opportunity this month to support our beautiful camp in the Sacramento mountains south of Cloudcroft and ensure future opportunities with other Christians to pray, worship, play and study in God's beautiful creation. Please give generously.
