CELEBRATING ANNIVERSARIES

Old Firehouse School

Old Firehouse School Celebrates 30 Years with the Lafayette Chamber!

"At Old Firehouse School we believe that the quality of one’s childhood predicts much about the quality of one’s future. Founded in 1996 by Dr. Dorothy Stewart and her husband, Bob Buhl, Old Firehouse School has been proud to serve local families for 30 years and to be a dedicated member of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce. Our nurturing, attachment-based approach and Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum recognize children as inherent scientists, encouraging them to explore the world with curiosity, follow their passions, and develop a lifelong connection to the natural world. Old Firehouse School is honored to be part of the Lafayette community, and we look forward to many more years of learning, growing, and building strong foundations for young children."

Are you ready to get involved in your Chamber and your community? The petition to run for the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is now available at the Chamber Office, 251 Lafayette Circle, Ste 150. Please note, you will need to be a Chamber member for one year prior to election or appointment to the board. The petition can be downloaded here. The petition must be signed by five current Chamber members and returned to the office by 1pm on September 3, 2026. Come Shop at the Lamorinda Care Collective — Everything is Free!

Could you or someone you know use a little extra support right now? The Lamorinda Care Collective is a welcoming community shop where individuals and families can find the everyday things they need — completely free of charge, with no appointment necessary.

Our shelves are stocked with new and gently used clothing and shoes for children and adults, diapers and baby supplies, toiletries and personal care items, non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, bedding and linens, kitchen items, toys, games, sports equipment, and more. There is no cost to shop. Our goal is simple: to make it easier for neighbors to get what they need in a space that feels welcoming, respectful, and rooted in dignity.

Visit: 3468 Mount Diablo Blvd., Ste B100, Lafayette, CA 94549 on Sunday's from 4 PM - 6 PM and Wednesday's from 9 AM - 11 AM.

No appointment is needed — just come by during open hours. Inventory changes regularly based on donations, so there is always something new to discover. Please share this with friends, neighbors, families, students, clients, or anyone in your community who could use a little extra care right now.

Donations: They are hoping to fill the store with the best of the best for the families and looking for donations. Most urgently, we're looking for nonperishable food items, cleaning supplies, diaper wipes and kid clothes (not baby or toddler but the 5T to young adult set). You can bring them to the store Sundays from 4 PM - 6 PM and Wednesday's from 9 AM - 11 AM. For those of you that haven't been, our new address is 3468 Mt. Diablo, Suite 100.

Learn more, see what we carry, or request specific supplies at the Lamorinda Care Collective website.
