Upcoming Community Meeting on EBMUD’s Lafayette Reservoir Tower Upgrade Project
Visitors to Lafayette Reservoir may have noticed activity around the Lafayette Tower this week as East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) biologists and contractors were installing protective bird netting to help ensure that birds do not establish nests at the tower prior to the start of the Lafayette Reservoir Tower Upgrade Project. The netting will remain in place through late spring and early summer.
EBMUD is investing in several important projects in Lafayette to strengthen water service reliability and enhance the visitor experience at the Lafayette Reservoir. Work includes a seismic retrofit of the Reservoir Tower to improve dam safety, including shortening the tower by 40 feet, upgrades at the Lafayette Water Treatment Plant to ensure reliable water service for the region, and replacement of the Reservoir Recreation Area’s aging wastewater system.
EBMUD will host a Zoom community meeting on February 26 at 6pm to share what park visitors can expect during construction, discuss the anticipated construction schedule, and answer questions from the community.
👉 Find more information about the project HERE.
