2024 Lafayette Business Person of the Year Dinner and the State of the City Address
The 2024 Lafayette Business Person of the Year Dinner Honoring Hollie Lucas-Alcalay, owner of Hollie's Homegrown, and the City of Lafayette State of the City Address by Mayor Gina Dawson will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the Lafayette Park Hotel and Spa. The evening will also include the introduction of the Lafayette Chamber’s 2024 Board of Directors.

Nomination Window Now Open for Lafayette Citizen of the Year!
Nomination deadline is Friday, February 9 at 1pm. Dinner tentatively scheduled for Friday, March 22, 2024. Submit nominations using this online form.
Criteria for Lafayette's Citizen of the Year are as follows:
- Must NOT be a current elected or paid member of any City Council or school board.
- Must be a current Lafayette resident.
- Must be someone who has given of their time, money or energy to help make Lafayette a healthy community, where people will want to live, work and shop.
- Must be someone who models excellence in everything they do.
- Must be someone who brings this community together and/or makes us proud to be a member of the community.

Lafayette Business Women is a women-led business group. Shared experiences, contributed knowledge and skills, networking and collaboration opportunities. Empowering female entrepreneurs to build successful businesses.
Meeting once a month January through November, typically the third Wednesday of the month alternating from morning to evening events, at member locations throughout Lafayette.
This group is for Lafayette Chamber members and their employees. Guests welcome to attend the first meeting for free, then we encourage guests to join the Lafayette Chamber or pay the $20 guest fee during registration.

Join us for a Ribbon Cutting to celebrate the new ownership of Caroline's Salon. Meet Akino Chikada and Anant Agrawal the new owners. Caroline and Michael are also attending and are still very much involved in the business.
Monday, January 29th at 5pm. Caroline's Salon is located at 57 Lafayette Circle (Between Solano Jewelers and Tutu's on the second floor). Champagne toast, delectable bites, and receive a fun goodie bag! We will cut the ribbon at 5:15pm sharp!

Small Business Help Office Hours - Hosted by SCORE
SCORE has the largest network of free volunteer small business mentors in the nation. No matter what stage your business is at SCORE can be a valuable resource.
The Lafayette Chamber of Commerce has been partnering with SCORE for over 15 years.
We welcome our chamber members and community members to schedule a complimentary meeting with a SCORE representative on Tuesdays between the hours of 1:30pm-4:00pm in our Chamber office at 251 Lafayette Circle, Ste 150.

Mike Harris is our in-house SCORE counselor. Mike earned a BS with an emphasis on electronics from Stevens Institute of Technology and an MBA from Santa Clara University. After a few years in engineering, Mike spent most of his career in high tech marketing and operations management. While continuing to work in electronics he helped manage his family retail business. After retiring from his career in electronics, Mike began working with small businesses helping them obtain working capital loans. Besides mentoring, Mike helps present SCORE business plans and financial planning workshops.

Contra Costa Shark Tank Youth Competition
Cheer on the ten finalists on February 6, 7pm-9pm. at the Lafayette Library as they compete to impress the judges and win the top $1,000 prize.
The ten finalists, ages 11 - 17, are from San Ramon, Danville, Moraga, Lafayette, Richmond, Oakley, and Antioch. The competition is a fun way to promote youth entrepreneurship among K-12 students in Contra Costa County. When young people succeed as entrepreneurs, they improve their own lives while also contributing to the economic development of their local communities. Street Tree Trimming 1/22 and 1/23
Street tree trimming on Mt Diablo Blvd east of Mountain View/Dolores is scheduled for Monday (1/22) and Tuesday (1/23). Some street parking will not be available and some short-term lane closures will occur. Most of it will be on the south side of the street.
