Pedestrian Safety

Crosswalk Daylighting Law Will Result in Removal of Some Parking Spaces to Improve Pedestrian Safety

Did you know that you can no longer park within 20 feet of an intersection or crosswalk? California's citation enforcement started on January 1, 2025, however, a grace period in Lafayette means that fines are not currently being issued while we educate the community about this change in State law and make physical modifications to some parking spaces and remove meters where necessary. Note that regardless of whether the curb is painted red or not, parking is still prohibited within the 20-foot range.
