The Mayor's State of the City Address will be Held on Thursday, February 10
Plan to join the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and the City of Lafayette for Mayor Teresa Gerringer’s State of the City address on Thursday, February 10, at 6:00 p.m. This one-hour virtual event will include a speech by the Mayor, a brief overview of City of Lafayette Departments, Q&A and a special musical performance to be announced soon. The event will be held on Zoom. You can also watch it on the City’s YouTube and Facebook pages. Question will be able to be submitted on Zoom during a Q&A session, or emailed in advance to Suzanne Iarla, Communications Analyst at siarla@lovelafayette.org. Applications Being Accepted for Leadership Contra Costasm
The East Bay’s premier countywide Leadership program is accepting applications for the
September 2022-May 2023 class.
LCC application is available here.
Sponsored by the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, Leadership Contra Costasm (LCC), the Bay Area’s premier countywide leadership program, accepts 25–30 individuals from throughout the county with diverse backgrounds to participate in the program. LCC is geared to people who want to make a difference in the communities in which they live and work. Topics include: Health & Aging, The Price of Justice, Business & Economics, Environment, Education, Social Justice, Government & Politics, Housing & Transportation.

Sustainable Lafayette is looking for energetic new Board members to join our impactful group! Our current Board is made up of a handful of fun community leaders who bring a deep dedication and passion to the mission on local issues ranging from plastic reduction to car idling, bike paths, affordable housing, open space, and more. For this next round of Board recruitment, we’re seeking new members with a connection to Lafayette and a specific interest in:
- 1) finance and accounting;
- 2) party planning and event organizing;
- 3) social media and website management;
- 4) local government or business relations; or
- 5) urban planning.
We strongly encourage women, people of color, LGBTQ+, and others of diverse backgrounds to apply.
Do you have what it takes to be on the Board of Directors?
The Sustainable Lafayette Board meets monthly in-person and/or via zoom on the second Tuesday night of the month. Directors are required to attend at least 7 meetings per year during their two-year term. An active Board member volunteers at least 5 hours per month, including attending Board meetings. These hours could include committee work, planning or working at a public event, meeting with partners, or helping with the implementation of a project.

As the climate crisis looms and the Bay Area braces for drought, wildfires, and sea level rise, these are unprecedented times facing Lafayette residents. LAFAYETTE PARTNERS IN EDUCATION IS ACTIVELY RECRUITING INTERESTED PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO SERVE ON THE 2022-2023 BOARD COMMENCING JULY 1.
For 40 years, serving on the LPIE board has been an excellent way to gain knowledge of what's happening in the schools and to help preserve LPIE's mission to support and enrich the education of every TK-12 child in Lafayette public schools. While many board members have children currently attending Lafayette schools, we welcome Lafayette community members and anyone interested to apply. All board members provide an integral perspective by infusing LPIE’s board with fresh ideas and viewpoints.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Contra Costa County is a community benefit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, established to recruit, train and support volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the Juvenile Court process. A CASA volunteer helps to ensure that a foster child’s needs are being met while assisting the Court in moving children from temporary placement to safe and permanent homes.
CASA currently has two job openings: Screening and Training Coordinator and Recruitment Coordinator.
The Screening and Training Coordinator is responsible for volunteer screening prior to acceptance into the CASA Program as well as the development and delivery of training for prospective and existing CASA volunteers. Apply for Screening and Training Coordinator.
The Recruitment & Outreach Coordinator is responsible for recruiting individuals within the community to serve as CASA volunteers and represents the CASA Program at outreach events in order to raise awareness of the CASA Program’s mission. Apply for Recruitment Coordinator.

Lamorinda Spirit Senior Transportation, Shopping Shuttle Pilot Program: Are you available for 5 hours once a week to help out the Lafayette and Lamorinda community? One paid driver and several volunteer drivers are needed for the Lamorinda Spirit Senior Transportation Program. The paid driver will drive a 9-passenger vehicle for a 4-hour shopping shuttle circuit up and down Mt. Diablo Road in Lafayette on Tuesday or Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each week, taking passengers of all ages from store/business/restaurant to store/business/restaurant. Training is provided. If the shuttle is well utilized, a second shopping shuttle day will open up. Volunteer drivers are needed to take Lamorinda older adults to their appointments, shopping, and errands, mornings or afternoons, every week or two. A 5-passenger mini-van is used for these trips. When volunteers are not available, the paid driver may wish to fill in. A regular Class C California Driver’s License, a good driving record, and cheerful communication skills are needed. Part Time Driver for Mobility Matters: ADA Van and Back-Up Driver; Rides for Seniors (RFS) & Rides 4 Veterans (R4V). Position Description: Part Time/Temporary Driver (Hours will vary, but will not usually exceed 20 per week); Works from our Lafayette office; Reports to Director of Transportation Pay: $19/hour through payroll, plus $0.56/mile reimbursement (When using your own vehicle).

Just added! A new VIRTUAL One-Stop Job Shop, so you can choose to participate virtually or come to campus. There is a separate registration required for each fair. If anyone wants to attend both, that is absolutely OK! If you register for both fairs at the same time, I will offer a discount of $50 off one of the fairs for companies, government agencies and schools/school districts, and $25 for non-profits.
