Celebrating 15 Years with the Lafayette Chamber!
St. Anselm’s is a welcoming, inclusive community committed to loving God and neighbor, growing in faith, caring for each other, and serving others. Their building is nestled against the rolling hills of the Burton Valley in Lafayette, but their community reaches well beyond their physical boundaries to make a difference in the world. They are warm, caring, and accepting, knowing that everyone who comes through our doors is a gift from God.
One of St. Anselm’s most distinctive physical features is our sanctuary. When, in 1959, St. Anselm’s was established as a mission congregation, the Rt. Rev. James Pike, then Bishop of the Diocese, enthusiastically expressed his desire for a church in-the-round like one he cofounded on Cape Cod. So, the style was adopted for the newly formed St. Anselm’s. They gather Sundays at 10 a.m. All are welcome!

Lafayette City Council Announces Vacancy, Accepting Applications Until July 8, 2025
The Lafayette City Council has announced a current vacancy on the City Council and laid out the process for filling the position. On May 27, Councilmember Gina Dawson announced her resignation from the Council effective June 1, 2025.
The City will advertise the vacancy widely and accept applications until Tuesday, July 8 at 5:00 p.m. The appointed person will serve on the City Council until the next regularly scheduled municipal election in November 2026.
Applicants must be a resident of the City of Lafayette and registered to vote. The application form is available on the City’s website at www.lovelafayette.org/council-vacancy. Completed applications can be submitted to the City Clerk via email, mail or in-person. Applications must be received by Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Postmarks will not be accepted.
Applicants will be interviewed on Tuesday, July 15 and, if necessary, Wednesday July 16. The Lafayette City Council is obligated to fill the vacancy by July 30, 2025.
At the previous City Council meeting, Dawson announced she was resigning from the City Council for family reasons. She said, “This decision was at once an easy one to make, because family will always come first for me, but also a hard decision, as it has been a great privilege and experience to have served the residents of Lafayette since first elected in 2020. I am very grateful, and honored, to have worked with this Council, our dedicated city staff, the many passionate and considerate volunteers for the City, our wonderful business and school communities, and other organizations and individuals who work to make, and continually improve upon, the quality of life and community that Lafayette enjoys.” Dawson served on the Lafayette City Council since 2020 including one term as Mayor.
For more information, visit www.lovelafayette.org/council-vacancy.

Supervisor Candace Andersen Weekly Update
June 16, 2025, Weekly Update
Contra Costa Stands with our Immigrant Communities
Contra Costa County stands with our immigrant communities. We know recent federal immigration actions have caused fear and confusion for many across our region and beyond. Our commitment to serving all people, regardless of immigration status, has not changed.
County services like healthcare, public assistance, and mental health support are provided to all, without exception. We operate within our legal authority, focusing on community trust and public safety - not immigration enforcement.
Our community is stronger because of our differences, and we remain committed to dignity, fairness, and access for all. We also support your right to express concern through peaceful protest. In times like these, showing up for each other - in voice, in action, and in care - is how we move forward.
Our strength lies in the people who call this County home. You are not alone, and we will continue to stand with you.
Need support or information?
• Visit Immigration Resources & Public Charge Information - EHSD information about immigration resources in our area.
• Call or text 988 for 24/7, confidential support through the Contra Costa Crisis Center.
• The Contra Costa County Library is hosting a Know Your Rights online presentation on Monday, June 23 at 11 AM. Learn your rights when interacting with ICE and the immigration system. The program will have a live Spanish interpretation. To register click here.
