My Sunday Soapbox & Thoughts...
So this morning I logged in to only find a load of messages about a prophecy given in 2009 regarding North Korea. Along with that, many adding how we need to pray for a revival to come.
First of all, let's deal with some facts; because I'm a person that likes to deal with facts and truth.
Kim Jung-Un's father was named Kim Jung. And when this prophecy was spoken in 2009, Kim Jung-Un wasn't even in power, his father was. Of which he died of a heart attack two years later in 2011. So which Kim was he talking about? Because 11 years have passed and there hasn't been a "united" Korea. This is not at all to downplay the prophecy given, but more I want to address the mindset of the people sharing it.
In America, we love to loosely use the word "revival". But where in the scriptures does it ever indicate that a "great revival" would take place in the last days? Nowhere. In fact, the scripture indicates the opposite; that there will be a great "falling away" from the truth.
In Joel 2:28 (and repeated in Acts 2:17), the Lord stated in the last days He would pour out His Spirit on all flesh; our sons and daughters would prophesy, our old men would dream dreams, and young men would see visions.
This prophesy is and already has come to past. Right now, as I write this, God's spirit is being poured out. Many are coming to Christ in multitudes in places like Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. And I know there is more to come.
But the "idea" that there will be this massive wave of believers taking over the globe in the public eye, or even taking over governments or nations, is false.
If you want to know how the church age will end, simply recall what happened in the beginning. The first-century church was in hiding because there was mass persecution that included torture, imprisonment, and death.
In Matthew 24: 9-13, Jesus said, "They will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow wax cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved."
We as the American church also LOVE prophesy; especially the ones that sound good. It's seems to be a personal addiction for many. But the real question is, are you really prepared for what's ahead? Are you truly ready to be betrayed, tortured, imprisoned, or even die for Christ? Because if you're struggling to live a sold-out life for Christ today (and many are), how are you going to be ready to die for Him tomorrow? The answer is, you won't be...
