Students & Kites Dancing With the Wind

Summer School has been a great mix of hands-on learning and fun this year! Students have been working hard in their classes while also enjoying activities like our Winston Summer Fun day with choices like hiking, field games, art, and lawn games. The Life Science classes are taking learning beyond the classroom with a walking field trip to study the local biome. 

Our Kickoff BBQ was a wonderful way to bring everyone together, and we are especially proud of the creation of our Student Leadership Team, whose initiative and support have helped make campus events run smoothly.

We’ve been enjoying our after school programs, too! Our Culinary Program - the Art of the Grill - has been a highlight, with students cooking up some excellent food and building great grilling skills. We’ve also enjoyed the creativity of the Abrakadoodle art program, which gave students another opportunity for artistic expression. 

Our Culinary Program recently took a shopping trip to Jimbo’s Grocery Store, led by our Summer School Director, Mr. Jacobsen, and our Assistant Principal, Mr. Weeden. The trip gave students valuable real-world experience and hands-on practice with budgeting, meal planning, and making thoughtful purchasing decisions, while helping them connect classroom learning to everyday life. We are also grateful to Jimbo’s for being such a generous donor and for their ongoing contributions to our Culinary Arts program throughout the year.

We’re excited to welcome Winston families back to campus for a relaxing and fun-filled Family Summer Picnic! Join us on Saturday, August 8, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM for games, light refreshments, and a chance to connect with fellow families before the new school year begins.

Please RSVP using the QR code or link on the above flyer so we can plan accordingly. Light snacks and cool drinks will be provided. Families are encouraged to bring their own picnic-style lunch and a blanket or chairs to sit on.

This event is hosted by the Winston School Parent Association. We hope to see you there!

Winston School Alum, Vince G., is a host for the Point Loma Charity Club Golf Classic, providing a fun opportunity to play golf for a great cause!
