BREAK OUT OF THE OLD POT

A while ago I bought some flowers with my husband to put into our yard. They were in the trays waiting to be transplanted. When we bought them, they were full of blooms, but it had been several days between the purchase and the time of transplanting them. During that time, they were watered, but not separated into bigger pots. Many of the blooms fell off, and just the greenery was visible.

When we finally got them transplanted, it reminded me of how people get rooted in Jesus, and they begin to bloom, but they don’t get separated unto God to grow. The crowdedness of life causes their growth to be choked out and the excitement and “bloom” of the new birth fades. They may have good intentions, just like we did when we purchased the flowers, but a plant must be maintained to give it room to grow.
Life is like this my friends. We must water those we love so they will bloom and become flowerful. We must be watered ourselves by those that love us so we can become flowerful. How do we water each other? One way is loving someone enough to give them space to grow. We must encourage them to bust out of the old pot and expand their faith into a larger pot. We must do it daily with care. Like these plants, our new life in Christ takes time to grow, but once we have grown to a point that our “little pot” can’t contain us, we must be taken from the original little small container carefully, and transplanted into a larger container so we can be allowed to grow.
My husband had purchased some other plants earlier in the year, just like these, and re-potted them right away. They became very beautiful and grew into a glorious garden of color. They had been given the chance to become what they were intended to become because someone took time and work to help them grow.
Many of us choose to stay in a small pot, which limits what God has for us. In saying this, I don’t mean leave your church. I mean that often you don’t allow God to grow you and mature you right where you are at.   Many don’t like the idea of change and are content to be “comfortable” just the way things have always been. Being comfortable is not what will bring growth and change. Growth only comes when there is change.
If that is the condition you are in, I would suggest you consider asking God to help you to desire more. Change will bring a greater life than you can imagine. And to the leaders, in the Church—when someone wants more, don’t discourage them. The best kind of leader is one that helps others reach their full potential.  We are commanded to be fruitful and multiply. Remember, God says one plants, one waters but God brings the increase. Be a planter and a waterer for Jesus! Break out of that old pot into the new.
e of the Holy Spirit in order to walk the right way. This takes discipline, which is not a bad word. It is a word that is necessary to become the person led by the Holy Spirit and controlled by God’s leading.

Easy? No, but it is possible, or Jesus would not have said to do it. Any child that is not disciplined becomes out of control, and any disciple of God’s that does not discipline themselves (in spirit, soul, and body) is also out of control. Learn discipline, and you learn how to live the victorious life of being Spirit-led and not self-led. Read some scripture daily and get a bible with a concordance so you can look up topics that you struggle with. Take time to meditate on the scriptures and let them feed your spirit. This will help you make the right choices when necessary. One step leads to another, and soon you are walking in total victory in spirit, soul and body.

THE RESULTS OF THE POWER

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is an infusion of supernatural power. It opens up to the believer all of God’s best. That power was demonstrated in the Book of Acts with accounts of the early believers (Acts 5:12) and their miracles, signs and wonders. Ones such as Peter, John, Stephen, Paul, Ananias of Damascus are recorded, but there were too many to name them all.

It continues in our modern times as God does not change, nor does He take away that which He has given. Hebrews 13:8 states , “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”  Jesus sent us Holy Spirit from Father to do the works greater than Jesus did. He changes not; He is no “Indian giver.”

Over the last 140 years of our modern times God has raised up many “Holy Ghost-baptized” ministers who wrought great numbers of healing and various other miracles (including raising the dead). This includes those such as Maria Woodworth Etter (1880-1923), Smith Wigglesworth, John G. Lake, Aimee Semple McPherson, William Branham, Kathryn Kuhlman, Jack Coe, A.A. Allen, Oral Roberts, Lester Sumrall, and others.

I have witnessed the demonstrations of such power in my own experience. My late wife Jenny (whose first Pastor was Lester Sumrall) often spoke to the wind or to the rain (as Jesus did) and they obeyed. My present wife Helen has spoken to the violet storms and they obeyed. She has had many people saved, many people miraculously healed, and many gifts of the Spirit (I Corinthians 12:4-11) manifest through her.

What about myself? I was baptized in the Holy Spirit in early 1971 about three months before my discharge from the U.S. Navy. I had been serving the Lord since age six. I was now age 23, had started a Missions Church, held a Bible conference, led souls to Jesus, and visited many missionary’s works, but had never had a miracle result from prayer. A couple weeks after my “infilling,” I was meeting for prayer in the base chapel with a couple of other brothers. One of them complained of a nagging headache. I laid hands on him, prayed, and the headache promptly left. This was my first miracle, albeit a “small” one after being baptized in the Holy Ghost. Since then I have had numerous healings, demons cast off, and three times brought the dead or dying back to life.

Neither Helen nor I take any “glory” for these things. All glory goes to Jesus, since it is His power alone that works through the Holy Spirit anointing upon us.

This is what Jesus desires for every believer, however, only a few have taken hold of it. It is available to you if you ask for it, desire it, and truly believe the Word for it. Jesus said (John 16:24) “…ask and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”  He wants to give you that fullness of joy. Seek, ask, believe, receive.

God puts GREATNESS in COMMON people. Yes, in simple earthen vessels. Let’s again take a look at David...He was just a COMMON shepherd boy. So why not dare to believe God for yourself by stretching your faith; Then simply step back and watch God TURN your COMMON into His GREATNESS as He begins to work in you...All for your good and for His glory. It’s then that the greater will begin happening in you, for you and through you. All the while the doubters and the complainers will stand off and gaze at you in great amazement and WONDER; As they shake their heads and ask themselves the question. Just how did someone like YOU... Get to where you are and doing what you’re doing? That’s when you can stand up, look them all right square in the eye...Give them one of your great big smiles and say...But God.
