Emerge Employee Handbook

We have finalized updates to our Emerge Employee Handbook. The new handbook is effective last Friday 05/12/2023. While not an exhaustive list of all of the updates and additions, some key changes are noted below:

Our Handbook is now an Emerge Enterprise handbook applicable to The Emerge Center, The Emerge School for Autism, and The Emerge Foundation.

The Professional Conduct section has expanded and also includes an updated Code of Conduct Policy Addendum P3.6. Some excerpts include:

1.    Emerge team members are ambassadors of our mission in our community, and as such, we expect our team members to conduct themselves with professionalism both in and outside of the workplace.

2.    As mission ambassadors, team members should at all times attempt to act in a way that reflects Emerge’s culture, values, and policies. This includes when using Social Media.

3.    Your publicly posted content should not in any way be portrayed as the position or views of Emerge.

Safety Policy P 3.14. Please review full policy.

4.    Emerge is committed to the safety and health of all employees and recognizes the need to comply with regulations governing injury and accident prevention. Maintaining a safe work environment, however, requires the continuous cooperation of all employees.

5.    Violations of these safety procedures may lead to discipline, up to an including termination of employment.

Our Whistleblower Policy P3.15 now includes a highly secure, two-way, 24/7 , anonymous communication tool for our employees and/or stakeholders to report potential wrongdoings or unethical behavior. www.safewhistle.com

Please see additional guidelines for Misconduct and Disciplinary Actions in P3.16.

6.    While still not an exhaustive list, it is important to understand that misconduct may subject an employee to discipline, up to and including termination.

Personal Appearance and Standards have been expanded. Please review full policy P3.17.

7.    All attire deemed unprofessional, presents a safety concern, or misrepresents the image of Emerge is not acceptable.

8.    Modifications to a team member’s attire requested by a Leadership member must be complied with immediately.

We ask that everyone read the updated handbook and sign acknowledgement no later than Friday, 5/19/2023.

What is a core word?

Core vocabulary refers to the small number of words that make up >70-90% of what we say on a daily basis. These words are relevant across contexts and can have many meanings. Core vocabulary is powerful because it allows communicators to express a wide variety of concepts with a very small number of words.

Helpful Information: Make a plan for any Emergency

Always stay informed:

Some of the things you can do to prepare for the unexpected, such as assembling an emergency supply kit and making an emergency plan are the same regardless of the type of emergency. However, it's important to stay informed about what might happen and know what types of emergencies are likely to affect your region.

Be prepared to adapt this information to your personal circumstances and make every effort to follow instructions received from authorities on the scene. Above all, stay calm, be patient and think before you act. With these simple preparations, you can be ready for the unexpected.
