It has been a rocky start to the summer for the U.S. economy. On June 10, the University of Michigan's consumer sentiment index hit its lowest level in 52 years. A few days later, the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed year-over-year inflation of 8.6% in May - the fastest pace in 41 years.
