McHenry County Marines Needy Veterans Drive

What: The McHenry County Marine Corps League veteran detachment is seeking the community's support in obtaining donated working kitchen supplies that will be used to provide recently established homeless veterans with needed materials to them started in their new homes. Your assistance will help in improving the lives of our needy veterans in starting a new life in a residence while rescuing them from living on the streets.

When: Contact us and we will bring a box to your business location to be picked up later, once you have it filled.

Where: If your business would like to become involved, please let us know. We will bring a box to your location and pick up the filled box, just as we do the Toys for Tots campaign.

What: It’s that time of year! Merlak Tax Advisory Group is here to prepare and file your federal and state income returns, with appointments starting January 23, 2023. Merlak Tax Advisory Group has two locations, in Lake in the Hills (by the airport) and Elmhurst. During your appointment, Carla can review and discuss your year-end tax documents, complete your federal and state returns, and submit them for filing. Carla charges a flat fee of $89 for preparing and filing individual federal and Illinois state tax returns (additional charges apply for filing state returns in other states), and Chamber Members receive a $10 discount.

2022 Tax Season Begins January 23, 2023 at Olesuk Tax Services

What: Hello, time to, again, prepare for Tax Season, everyone’s favorite time of year. I was grateful to have a break with brief visits to the states of WI, MI, MO, ID, MT, WA and IA. As Covid-19 and other issues wind down that were interfering in every-day life and the overall economy, (and were reflected in our tax laws with two major acts passed by Congress in 2020 and 2021) some of the pandemic relief programs are expiring. Some of these issues acronyms were: CAA (Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act), CARES (The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act), FCAA (Further Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2020), FFCRA (Families First Corona Virus Response Act), TCJA (Tax Cuts & Jobs Act). Making Estimated Payments either quarterly or with your Extension is suggested because the impact of these acts on existing and new laws that were either a challenge or an opportunity for tax professionals and their clients, are reverting back to the way the laws were in prior years resulting in fewer tax credits and a smaller tax refund this year. ... When: The “official” start of the 2022 Tax Season will be January 23, 2023, unless delayed by IRS. The Path Act, still requires employers to file W-2s and for 1099-NECs for nonemployees with the federal government by Feb. 1, 2023. Financial institutions must mail out brokerage tax statements like 1099-B, 1099-S and 1099-MISC forms by this date. The IRS is encouraging tax payers to create an IRS Online Account at irs.gov/account to access tax records, payments, balances, notices, and more.
