Vision: A community of opportunity where everyone has hope and can reach their full potential

Mission: To solve our community’s toughest challenges by connecting people, resources and ideas
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Thank you for the warm welcome last week. Ian made my first week eventful, and I am glad that Northeast Florida for the most part was spared. We provided financial and volunteer support so the residents of Ken Knight Drive could sandbag their homes before Ian reached the First Coast. Thank you, Erica La Spada and Laurrie Campbell for making that support possible.

The pictures of the devastation to our south are heart wrenching. I pray that any friends/family you have in Cuba, Southwest Florida or the Carolinas are safe and whole.

Accomplishing our vision of Northeast Florida as a community of opportunity where everyone has hope and can reach their full potential requires each of us to be fully engaged in the work. In healthcare, that is called working at the top of your license, meaning each person doing all they are trained and capable of doing. With Egypt’s assistance, I have been reviewing past team engagement surveys, exit interviews, and strategic plan findings. There are some common opportunities: transparent communication, staff empowerment, professional growth and advancement, and filling open positions.

The Leadership Team — Robin, Maureen, Jennifer, Tina, and I — meet weekly to discuss strategic and operational challenges and opportunities. We will be discussing these findings over our next two meetings, and I’ll share the results of our discussions with all of you. I welcome your thoughts on these subjects in addition to any skills and talents you are interested in bringing to our collective work. I am looking forward to meeting each of you over the next few weeks. Thanks for confirming dates/times you are available when Laurrie reaches out. In the meantime, feel free to contact me with any comments, questions, or suggestions.

The marketing team and I want to make sure we are communicating effectively. If you haven’t already completed the Monday Message survey, please do. Your opinions are valued and valuable.

Here’s to a great week!

Melanie

REALSENSE

Great News!

United Way of Northeast Florida received the 2023 VITA Grant Award from the IRS to provide resources to improve the prosperity of our community's most vulnerable and economically challenged citizens. Through the VITA Grant, RealSense seeks to stabilize low- to moderate-income working families in Northeast Florida by providing them the tools, knowledge, skills and resources needed to attain financial success. These services are provided through free tax preparation and financial wellness services available to families in our four-county service area – Duval, Clay, Nassau and Baker counties. Since 2003, RealSense has been a key community resource delivering quality financial services to low to moderate-income families.

Sincere thanks to Melanie Patz, the Leadership Team, the CI Department, Catherine Paez and the RealSense Team for their invaluable contributions to this remarkable work. Now the work begins.
