September 2020
St. Mark Families:

As we enter our third week of the 2020-2021 school year, we'd like to thank you again for your support and flexibility. There are plenty of opinions and an abundance of ever-changing information to deal with. We are committed to transparent, fact based communication with our St. Mark community.

We have updated our Reopening Plan to reflect guidance we received from the Erie County of Health, along with updates to our Attendance procedures.

Wishing you all good health and spirit,
R. Clemens & H. McCarthy

Updates to our Reopening Plan:

Section 2.c: Reporting Infection

  • Parents/guardians need to notify the school directly if their child tests positive for Covid-19.

  • Per the Erie County Department of Health (9/13/20): when the ECDOH is informed of a positive test related to our students or staff, they will contact the St. Mark COVID Response Team.

  • Per the Erie County Department of Health (9/13/20): persons who came into contact for 60 minutes or more with a person who tested positive must quarantine for 14 days.

  • Per the Erie County Department of Health (9/13/20): siblings of students who must quarantine do NOT need to quarantine because they are considered "contacts of a contact."

  • Distance Learning will be implemented for any quarantined students.

Section 7: Attendance
  • If a student will be ABSENT from in person or distance learning, the student must be called in as "absent" by a parent or guardian to our main office.

  • Should a parent or guardian choose to keep a student home due to a COVID related circumstance, the parent or guardian must call and inform the main office that the student will be considered as a Distance Learner for that day or short time period.

  • Should a student or group of students be quarantined, that will be indicated in our main office upon notification of a case from the DOH. All quarantined students must continue in their learning opportunities and will be instructed as Distance Learners during quarantine.

**Should we receive a report from the Erie County Department of Health that there be a positive COVID-19 case within our student body or faculty, we will continue our practice of informing the St. Mark community directly. Though the information will be submitted to the DOE/DOH Dashboard, we deem it necessary to continue to provide factual, up to date information with you directly.

Welcome back!

We are very excited to start up our Afterschool Program again this year. We have taken a lot of care and time to adapt the way that we approach our Afterschool Program so that our students are as safe as possible. We provide each child their own bag of art supplies so that they do not have to share during any of the activities. The students complete so many fun crafts! We also provide a number of individualized activities to ensure a safe distance at all times.

Each day, students are provided with snack, have access to the gym where they are free to play soccer, red light green light, and other socially distanced games. Walks are a frequently requested activity. Students are free to use their imaginations and creativity with various art projects and crafts. We also offer homework time and help as requested.

Our staff is very excited to be back and look forward to seeing you soon! If you have any questions please call Cindy Tippett (716) 860-5918
