Thank You from Jester Homegirls

Big thanks to all who joined or donated through our 5K team for Homeboy Industries' 5K Run / Walk! With 141 participants, we had the largest team! Also, we raised $1,139.30 in additional donations for Homeboy Industries! Special shout outs to Ennovi Dominguez and Ivonne Lazaro for placing 1st and 3rd in their age groups! So far this year, Jester Homegirls has paid for thousands of dollars in helping our SJ families with senior fees, AP test fees, athletic fees, textbooks, uniforms, 5K registration, and Super Site.

Thank you for helping Jester Homegirls serve the dear neighbor without distinction!

Attention Juniors and Seniors:

National Honor Society Applications are Open till 11 October 2024

Application for membership is available to juniors and seniors who have a cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.0 and/or a cumulative, weighted GPA of 3.75 GPA who exhibit excellence in character, leadership and service and have been in attendance at the school a minimum of one semester.

By empowering, championing, and recognizing well-rounded students, NHS provides a values-based framework to elevate a culture of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

Students who wish to apply for membership must: 1) request by email an unofficial transcript from the Registrar or your DA; 2) print a copy of your transcript; 3) print a one-paragraph response to the question—In what ways do you best contribute to creating a culture of service, leadership, and character here at SJHS and in your community? 4) submit your transcript and response to the DAs, who serve as the Faculty Council and will review and approve your application; 5) if approved, submit the printed approval to Mr. Castaneda.

If you have already submitted an application, it will be forwarded to Mrs. Scalas for final review with the Faculty Council.

Looking Ahead-Testing

On Monday, September 30th, during Enrichment, students will complete a Digital Readiness Test using the Bluebook app on their devices. Students must have fully charged devices, and also have their chargers ready, for both days. The digital readiness will prepare students for test day by providing them with a test review as well as a practice test.

On Wednesday, October 16th, the freshmen will be taking the PSAT while the sophomores and juniors will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT, in section from 8:15am - 11:30am. The PSAT will not only provide students with an expected score on the SAT, but will also show them where their strengths and weaknesses lie. There is no make-up for the PSAT and PSAT/NMSQT so attendance is very important on this day.

Seniors will be participating in Senior Seminar at the Flynn Center on this day.
