A Message from Dr. Erwin

As Catholics, we recognize our parents are our students' first teachers and their homes are their first classrooms. Thus collaboration with families is central to our success as a school. We engage with families as partners in a number of ways including:

  • Many parents and family members volunteer as room parents, recess/lunch duty, field trip chaperones, room parents, uniform closet, and help complete tasks around the school.
  • Parents who serve on School Advisory Council (SAC), Finance Committee and the Parent Teacher Organization board provide critical input.
  • Parent/teacher conferences provide a key opportunity to forge partnerships with families.

We offer three conference times each year, and these consist of:

  • Fall conferences are open to all families and are scheduled to occur on Thursday, October 23 and Friday, October 24.
  • Winter conferences are generally guided by teacher requests to families.
  • Spring conferences are focused on students who need coordinated support for the rest of the year.

Conferences are a chance for families and educators to work in partnership to support student academic growth and success. We look forward to seeing you October 23 and 24!

Our Faith at Holy Trinity School

This Week's Virtue: Fortitude

This week, we are focusing on the virtue of fortitude—the strength to persevere through difficult times, embrace new challenges, and make the right choices, even when it's hard. At Holy Trinity, we work on this virtue regularly with our students. As they move through the week, they are encouraged to try again when faced with a tough lesson or concept. During moments of disagreement—whether it’s about the rules of a game or what to do at recess—students are guided to resolve conflicts with kindness and fairness. Our TITANS values can guide students in making wise choices.

Holy Trinity educators are always available to support students, but we also emphasize the importance of taking initiative, exercising patience, and building resilience. These small but powerful actions help our students grow in confidence and in fortitude—a virtue that will serve them well throughout their lives. Thank you for partnering with us in helping our students develop this essential strength of character.

Prayer Intentions

  • A prayer for fortitude we can share with students is: Dear Jesus, grant me wisdom to choose what is right; fortitude to persevere in goodness; and courage to patiently endure hardships. Help me to rely on your guidance and strength with humility, as I imitate your example of doing your Father’s will. Amen!
  • For Pope Leo as he continues to offer wisdom and guidance to us all.
  • For members of our community who face health or economic challenges. May they find strength in God’s love, comfort in the support of others, and hope in the promise of better days.

Gratitudes

  • To our students who show kindness to others every day in small ways–holding the door, helping a friend, or tidying up after recess.
  • Our staff is grateful for the time we had together Friday to kick off the accreditation self-study process. After a productive day, we have a great start on our self-study.
  • Thank you Mrs. Ehmke for arranging class presentations by the MUSE program and for encouraging the love of music in all our students.
  • We are grateful to Veronica Coursolle for stepping into the role of parent field trip coordinator, for our community service coordinator Kristie Kolesnikov, and the community service room parents.
  • Each month this year, we are having school ambassadors available after masses to share news and answer questions. Thank you to the Kolesnikov, Gorham, and Donnelly families. See links under the volunteer section below to sign up for upcoming weeks.

This Week's Reminders

  • Picture Day is this Wednesday. Packets were sent home last week and extras available in the office.
  • Stay for a cup of coffee with Dr. Erwin this Friday morning after drop-off (8:30 a.m. in the cafeteria).
  • Please, please, label your children’s clothing (especially coats), water bottles, and lunchboxes. The Lost and Found is beginning to bulge with lost and forlorn items we would love to connect with owners.
  • Sign up for a conference during the October 23 and 24 sessions. See the email that was sent last Friday for the links to individual teacher sessions.

More Fall Fundraiser Gratitudes

The success of the fall fundraiser was possible thanks to the generous donations we received to fill the silent auction. Below are additional gratitudes we would like to share:

  • Three local Catholic high schools donated a total of $2,000 in tuition credits.
  • Previous HT Learning Support teachers contributed a combined $2,000 in tutoring credits.
  • Over 30 items were generously donated by HT families or friends, and three were donated by parishioners.
  • Dozens of items, gift cards, and services were donated by local businesses.
  • The school donated spirit gear, pajama party passes, and free dress passes.
  • And last but certainly not least, Fr. Bill donated two copies of a magnificent star cluster.

Volunteer Opportunities

Each month, Holy Trinity families are available after mass to answer questions, share schoolwide news, and meet parishioners. If you would like to serve this role, see the links in Track it Forward.

Hot Lunch Morsel

We all know fruits and vegetables are an important part of a child’s diet. For those who purchase hot lunch at school, here are some reminders:

  • All of the entrees come with a side bar which include fresh fruit, fresh veggies and a snack.
  • To avoid waste, students are asked what they would like.
  • They can choose all three options if they would like.

Please encourage students to take and eat the fruit/veggies. Even when offered, we are seeing not many students taking them.

PTO

Our Next PTO Meeting: 7pm on Tuesday, October 21 It is held at the school. All parents are welcomed and encouraged to join. We meet in a classroom on the main floor.

We're excited for Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 31! Pick up your student first and then join us at the playground for the fun.
