Last week was one of those truly special ones—a confluence of streams of joy that reminded us why our community at Holy Trinity Catholic School is so special.
We began on Monday with decorations and treats to kick off Teacher Appreciation Week. Tuesday, tables overflowed with flowers brought in by students. Then a team of parents worked their floral magic, creating beautiful arrangements for every staff member. The day’s assembly was an energetic celebration of a successful Titan Run and gratitude for our beloved teachers. We awarded grade lap winners and celebrated third grade for having the highest amount raised per student, earning them a pizza party.
Wednesday’s school mass, hosted by our third grade, included the crowning of Mary. Joy radiated from second graders as they came forward to receive Communion for the first time at a school mass.
Thursday brought yet another wave of joy. When Habemus Papam—“We Have a Pope”—was announced over the intercom, classrooms erupted with cheers, clapping, and students jumping in celebration of Pope Leo IV. Our prayer service in his honor was filled with love and pride.
Teacher Appreciation Week concluded on Friday, with students leaving for the weekend—many carrying gifts for their mothers—and teachers walking out with arms full of cards, gifts, and treats they received throughout the week.
Last week was a beautiful reminder of the joy, love, and faith that flourish when we come together in community at Holy Trinity.

This Week's Virtue: Self Control
This week’s virtue is one that teachers and parents help students develop every day: self-control.
This is the ability to regulate our desires, emotions, and actions. It helps us balance our impulses, manage strong feelings, and make thoughtful choices instead of reacting on impulse. At school, self-control looks like:
- Taking turns on the playground
- Waiting to be called on during class discussions
- Staying calm during stressful or frustrating moments
It’s a virtue that takes time to grow, but each small step helps us become more thoughtful, compassionate, and Christ-like in our actions. Thank you for supporting our students as they develop this virtue.

Prayer Intentions
-
For Pope Leo XIV, as he begins his papacy. May the Holy Spirit guide his leadership, and may we place our trust in his vision for the Church.
-
For members of our community facing physical or mental health challenges, and for the caregivers who walk alongside them with compassion and strength.
-
For our 8th grade students, as they enter their final month at Holy Trinity. May they cherish the memories they’ve made and find courage and hope as they prepare for the journey ahead.

Gratitudes
- Thanks for serving at masses this week: Matteo, Georgia, Kellen, Grayson, Alina, Juniper, Shannon Gould, Johaan
- We are grateful to our parents and parish staff for the treats, flowers, and notes during Teacher Appreciation Week.
- For the gift of our dedicated teachers and staff who teach, counsel, guide, support, encourage, and love our students every day.

Second Grade Update: This year we were blessed to have Ms. Annie Clark as our second grade teacher. This summer Ms. Clark is getting married and she and her fiance decided to move back to Spokane to be close to family. The Holy Trinity community is grateful for her dedicated service to her students; her work with colleagues; and all she did for our school. We are thrilled to announce that Lydia Wanner will be stepping into the second grade teaching role. This year Ms. Wanner student taught under the mentorship of Mrs. Christa Keys.
Soccer Field Update: The new soccer goals on the field are overwhelmingly popular! To help bring a bit of order to the games, a few exciting additions were made last week:
- Two 4th graders took the lead in drafting a set of rules, which were agreed upon by students in 3rd and 5th grades.
- New cones and sideline "donuts" now mark the field boundaries.
- Colored pinnies make it easier to distinguish teams during play.
- Responsibility for setup and cleanup—putting up the goals, placing cones, removing equipment at the end of the week, and gathering pinnies—is shared across the grades.
It’s been great to see students taking initiative and working together to keep the games fun, fair, and organized!

This year’s Titan Run ended last Friday and we raised over $112,000!!! Hats off to everyone who supported this year’s effort. We can look forward to more field trips next year and new laptops for our teachers. We did it!!
Additionally, our apologies for the messages sent the last several days from the 99 Pledges Application. They are built into the system automatically. Thanks for your patience.

The Titan Track & Field Roadrunners (3rd & 4th graders) unleashed some lighting out of the bottle over the weekend during Saturday's CYO Roadrunners Championship Meet at Valley Catholic. Our field of 16 athletes delivered 27 personal records. And yes, you did the math correctly -- nearly an average of two personal records per athlete, #Incredible.
In addition, a quick shout out to Andrew who helped a fellow competitor across the finish line after they stumbled. This kindness caught the eyes of many and reflects the class, as well as sportsmanship, woven into our program. Kudos to Andrew and to all our athletes who represent our values!
What next? Great question. Our Track & Field club qualified a small bus load of Roadrunners to join the Cubs (5th & 6th) and Cadets (7th & 8th) at this weekend's CYO Meet of Champions (MOC) at Jesuit.
Kudos to the Roadrunners below competing this weekend:
- Claire F.: 1500m
- Max C.: 800m and1500m
- Finley C.: 200m, 400m and Long Jump
- Girls 4x100m relay (Bailey O., Claire F., Ellie H. & Finley C.)
- Boys 4x100m relay (Ronan R., Harper J., Andrew O. & Max C.)
- Ellie H.: 200m
- Andrew O.: Long Jump
The coaching staff will send Heat Sheets to Dr. Erwin later this week. You'll then know the who, what and when for your fellow Titans competing this weekend at the CYO Meet of Champions.
You're invited to cheer along the team. Look for the red tent with the Holy Trinity logo this weekend at Jesuit.

Today we had confirmed cases of lice in two classrooms. We followed the state guidelines in responding.
Here is the guidance we sent to families about Lice prevention and treatment:
As per Oregon statute, we do not exclude students from school for lice. When a student is found to have lice we call home, bag up all of their school things and they go home for the day. If you have any questions contact the office or Dr. Erwin.
We encourage all families to check for lice and treat per these guidelines if found. Thank you!
