A Message from Dr. Erwin

Each year, we say goodbye to a class of 8th graders as they wrap up their time at Holy Trinity. That moment has arrived for the Class of 2025. Last week, they gifted us with a beautiful mass—full of spirit, love, and energetic voices. On Friday, their 1st grade buddies hosted a special tea party for them. It was a joy to see the little ones sing with such enthusiasm and to see the pride on the faces of our 8th graders.

This class is a remarkable blend of scholars, artists, athletes, and actors. Above all, they are dedicated servant leaders. Their class sweatshirts (which they still wear every day) say Servant Leaders on the sleeves. We’ve watched them live out those words, from their hearts, every day.

The profile below represents some facts about this group of students, though it cannot capture the countless acts of selfless service to our school and community. They led tours of our school, ran our assemblies, supported Titan Run, organized the recent spirit week and field day activites occurring this week, and performed regular community service together. Their greatest gift was the quiet leadership they provided as role models for younger students. We are better because they were here and we will miss them dearly.

Our Faith at Holy Trinity School

This Week's Virtue: Hope

Hope is often mistaken for positive thinking. As Catholics, we believe that hope is seen in our unwavering faith in God’s promises and the expectation of heaven. It is built on our trust in God and Christ’s promises, and it is stirred by relying on the Holy Spirit. We draw on hope when we remain confident in the face of challenges or struggles. By seeing the possibility in the challenge and moving forward with joy, we find the courage to progress.

Prayer Intentions

  • For our 8th grade graduates as they leave Holy Trinity and begin the next chapter of their lives.
  • We pray for the families of our graduates and give thanks for all of the ways they supported their children and our school.
  • In gratitude for Fr. Anthony and all he gave to our school while he was with us.

Gratitudes

  • Thank you to the small crew of after school volunteers who installed the mat under  the “spinny toy” last week.
  • Thank you to Kyle Y., 5th grade parent, who moved the light switch in the uniform closet to the right side of the door.
  • We are grateful to everyone who are giving their time and talents to make our 8th grade graduation a meaningful and hope filled celebration.

This Week's Reminders

Yearbooks

Yearbooks were distributed last Friday by classroom teachers. There are still plenty available. Use the form online or come into the office with a $20 check/$20 dollar bill to purchase one. Our 2024 - 2025 yearbook is twice the size as last year's, it's full of color, and features activities right up through the spring.

Uniforms

It is time to look over the uniforms at home and bring in any that are too small so we can stock the uniform closet for next fall. Please discard any that are tattered or very stained.  There will be drop-off tubs in the front lobby beginning this week for donations.

In August, families can pick up clothing items from the uniform closet (more details to come). Families can find our complete uniform selection at Land’s End. Here is the link to our online shop.

Medication Pick-Up

If there is medication for your child at school, please pick it up before the last day of school on Wednesday, June 18th. We cannot keep any medication over the summer. See Halle in the front office for medication pick up and sign out.

Weather Advisory

Looking ahead, the weather seems to forecast sun and more sun. Please remember to apply sunscreen to students in the morning and consider sending it with them to apply again during the day. Students may bring hats to wear during recess. These are not allowed in the class though, per dress code. This is especially important for field day this Thursday and the K-2nd upcoming field trip to the Oregon Zoo on Friday.

Dramafest Recap

Last Saturday, Holy Trinity's Drama Club offered a one-day theatrical camp. Students were taught, rehearsed, and performed a short version of Peter Pan. By the numbers:

  • 25 eager campers participated
  • 8 middle school drama counselors were in attendance
  • Nearly 100 people in the audience
  • 1 fantastic Dramafest day camp

Next year, our drama’s fall musical is: Frozen Jr.  Auditions for this play are on Wednesday, June 11th, after school. Information packets are available in the office.

Holy Trinity in the News (Again!)

Our spring choir concert was featured in Javanan. Thank you to Mahsha A., a 2nd grade parent, for making the connection with the reporter who covered the story.

Here is a translation of the story from Farsi to English:

In a quiet corner of Beaverton, Oregon, second graders at a local elementary school had a unique and unforgettable experience: learning and performing a joyful song in Farsi.

The idea for this activity came from the school's music teacher, who wanted to promote the acceptance of linguistic and cultural diversity among students. To bring this vision to life, the teacher selected a cheerful Farsi children’s song to share with the class.

With the support of the mother of the school’s only Farsi-speaking student out of near 260 children, the song was introduced, practiced, and eventually mastered. Although none of the students spoke Farsi, they eagerly embraced the new words and, through repetition and encouragement, learned to sing them with confidence and joy.

A few weeks later, the second-grade class stood proudly in front of the entire school—students, teachers, and families—and sang together in unison: “Khoshhal o shaad o khandānam” ("I am happy, joyful, and smiling"). Parents watched with pride and wide smiles, moved by the children’s effort and enthusiasm. The moment proved that music, in any language, can be a bridge—connecting hearts and fostering mutual understanding across cultures.

This experience not only strengthened the children’s language and performance skills but also taught them that cultural diversity is something to be celebrated. Initiatives like this play a vital role in building inclusive school communities where every child feels seen, valued, and inspired to explore the richness of the world around them.

M.U.S.E. Band

What is M.U.S.E. Band? M.U.S.E. offers instrumental music for grades 4-8.  Group lessons are offered at your school once a week. The cost of these lessons are half of what it costs to take privately and students have the added benefit of learning an instrument with their friends and classmates in a group setting (the school band).

What Instruments are available? We offer instruction in Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, and Percussion. No previous experience necessary. If your child isn’t sure what instrument to take, we have student demonstrations of all the instruments on our website. Go to: https://museband.com/how-to-choose-an-instrument/.

Do the students perform? Yes. Students play at school events as well as performing in a large ensemble group with students from our other schools at special events like our Winter and Spring Concerts. The students also have optional events they can participate in, including workshops, solo and ensemble festivals, and our end of the year Spring Concert at Oaks Amusement Park.

How do we get more information about the program including cost and scheduling of classes? Information for parents is available on the M.U.S.E. website including cost of lessons, class schedules, and instrument rental. Registration is now open for the fall 2025. Please visit this website to regsiter: www.museband.comIf you have any questions, please call 800-233-6873 or email info@museband.com.
