OKCMAR supporting David Holt and Katie Cornman on February 8th Ballot

After reviewing and analyzing the candidates running for office in the upcoming municipal elections on February 8th, OKCMAR (through our political action committee) is proud to support David Holt for re-election as Mayor and OKCMAR member Katie Cornman for Piedmont School Board.

Mayor Holt has been a tireless champion for promoting diversity and inclusion in our city’s governance. We have benefited by being included and brought to the table when there are conversations about issues important to REALTORS®,” said Cosper.

Holt’s singular achievement was the record-breaking passage of MAPS 4 in 2019, a nearly $1 billion initiative that will continue the city’s quarter-century of investment in quality of life. As the only active candidate in the field who supports MAPS, Holt has championed its continuation.

In addition, he has increased funding for core services like police, fire, streets and transit. His response to the pandemic was supported by residents across the ideological spectrum and led to a rate of death far below the state’s average and a vaccination rate far above the state and national averages.

Holt represents the continuation of the momentum that has led OKC to emerge as the nation’s 22nd largest city. His inclusive and optimistic style, branded as One OKC, has brought more unity to the city than ever before.

If Holt receives a majority of the vote on February 8th, he will secure a second term and no runoff will be held. For more information about Holt’s campaign or to have a yard sign placed in your yard, visit HoltForMayor.com.

“We are also excited to have one of our own accept the challenge to be a part of efforts to improve our community by running for office," Cosper said.

Katie Cornman obtained her real estate license in 2019 and began her career as REALTOR®. It was a natural step as her husband and his family were home builders and in the real estate industry.

With four kids, she found that working traditional jobs always made her feel like she was missing something or unable to take time off when needed, but being a REALTOR® allowed her the rewarding career that she desired and a home life that she was proud of.

This career path has also allowed her the freedom to get involved in her local community and led her to the current school board election. As REALTORS®, we know that school districts are one of the most important deciding factors of where someone wants to live; and Katie is hoping to be an asset to Piedmont. She is proud to be a mom and REALTOR® making a difference in her community.

"I am running because my kids are the third generation of Cornmans to attend school in the district. It made me sad to see some of the distrust and division we have in our community. I hope to use my real-estate insight, business sense, love of our community and level headiness to bring our district together. Growth in our community is going to continue. I want to grow in a way the town can support. I want this to be a district that my kids want to send their kids to."
