Leadership Huntington spent their April session at Marshall University!
🟢 We learned about Student Government Association from Student Body President, Walker Tatum.
🟢 Geoffrey Sheils, Board of Governors Chair, discussed Marshall's Shared Governance.
🟢 Bruce Felder, Chief Talent & Culture Officer, shared the intersection of Human Resources and DEI.
🟢 The group got wonderful insight and advice from Marshall University leaders; Dave Traube, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer; Jodie Penrod, Chief Information Officer; Dr. Avinandan Mukherjee, Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs; Ginny Painter, Chief of Staff; and Brandi Jacobs-Jones, Senior Vice President for Operations. Toney Stroud, Chief Legal Officer, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Corporate Relations, moderated the panel
🟢 We got to hear from one of our Leadership Huntington classmates - Matt James, Executive Director of Alumni Relations
🟢 Christian Spears, Director of Athletics, gave us a tour of the new Marshall University Baseball stadium and a look at the new Marshall University Softball facility and insight into 'Leadership Math'.
🟢 We learned about championship behaviors that lead to culture building from Marshall University Men's Soccer Head Coach Chris Grassie, who lead the 2020 team to a national championship.

Comcast Awards $20,000 to A.D. Lewis Community Center to Support Digital Skills Training 💻 | |

Comcast awarded a $20,000 grant to the A.D. Lewis Community Center to help members of the community with broadband adoption and digital skills training.
Comcast’s grant is part of Project UP, the company’s $1 billion commitment to advance digital equity through programs and community partnerships that connect people to the Internet, advance economic mobility and open doors for the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, storytellers and creators, according to the release.
In addition to the grant, Comcast volunteers joined the Sportsman Channel at the A.D. Lewis Community Center to prepare and provide meals for more than 200 people in need from the Huntington area as part of the Hunt.Fish.Feed. program. Launched in 2007 by the Sportsman Channel, Hunt.Fish.Feed. continues to raise awareness of the ongoing hunger crisis in the United States. Comcast’s support of the Hunt.Fish.Feed. program builds on its long history of community service and partnerships, and aligns with Team UP, the company’s national employee volunteer program.

MAMC, Mountwest Launch
In-Demand Career Skills Program ⚙️

The Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center (MAMC) and Mountwest Community and Technical College (MCTC) have responded to industry demand by creating a new career skills program in enhanced industrial maintenance technology. Registration is open for the fall term.
The SMART* (Systems Maintenance, Automation and Robotics Technology) Program prepares students for high-paying jobs maintaining, repairing and monitoring industrial systems in automated manufacturing settings.
Students can earn industry credentials, a one-year certificate degree and a two-year associate of applied science degree and can pursue a career track in one or more industrial maintenance specializations, including automation/process control, electrical, electronics, fluid power, general maintenance, mechanical and motor controls.

Marshall Health Network Offers Breakthrough Minimally-Invasive Treatment for Patients with Heart Valve Leakage 🫀

The MitraClip™ procedure is now available at Marshall Health Network to treat individuals suffering from mitral valve regurgitation. The FDA-approved, minimally-invasive procedure addresses valve leakage and improves overall cardiac function.
Marshall Health interventional cardiologist and structural heart specialist Salem Badr, M.D., an assistant professor at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, performed the first MitraClip procedure at St. Mary’s Regional Heart Institute in February followed by the Institute’s second MitraClip procedure in March.
