OVP HEALTH Celebrates 25 Years During

First Business After Hours of 2024 ⭐

Our first Business After Hours of the year was a success! Thank you to OVP Health for hosting us in their beautiful downtown facility! We enjoyed connecting with 120 of our members and friends before the winter weather and the delicious food from La Famiglia and Boujee Boards by Roz!


In 1999, Dr. Robert A. Hess, MD, and Stephen Shy, DO, formed an emergency department staffing company based in Huntington, WV, called Ohio Valley Physicians. Two decades later, Ohio Valley Physicians is now a multi-faceted, family/physician-owned and operated company called OVP HEALTH, employing hundreds of people in communities throughout the Midwest and East Coast regions. This year, OVP HEALTH celebrates 25 of serving communities across West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, and South Carolina with 30 locations.

Mark your calendars for Austin's 3rd Annual Ice Cream for Breakfast event is February 3! 25% of profits will be donated to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Tri-State!

Huntington Museum of Art to Offer Access to Clay Studio 🏺

Beginning Jan. 24 and running through May 16, 2024, HMA will offer access to its Clay Studio two nights a week through its Open Studio program for artists who are 18 years of age or older.

Open Studio, which is monitored by HMA Artist in Residence Kathleen Kneafsey, allows members of the community to use HMA’s Clay Studio.


Open Studio will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays from Jan. 24 through May 15, skipping March 6 and 13 for spring break. Open Studio will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays from Jan. 25 through May 16, skipping March 7 and 14 for spring break. Also, the Feb. 8 Open Studio will take place on Feb. 6.


The cost to participate in Open Studio, which does not provide instruction, is $15 per person per evening. There is no need to register in advance for Open Studio. Clay is available for purchase at $15 for 25 pounds.

City of Huntington Unveils New Set of Downtown Banners for Black History Month

For the second consecutive year, the City of Huntington is celebrating Black History Month with a downtown street banner program that will honor 77 Black individuals who have ties to Huntington and who have made significant contributions on a city, state or national level.


The banners, which are being installed on 3rd and 4th avenues beginning Monday, Jan. 29, coincides with the website, www.huntingtonblackhistory.com, which includes photos and biographies of each individual who is featured on a street banner. The website now features 223 individuals.


A public reception to celebrate the launch of the Black History Month banner program is set for 4 p.m. Sunday, January 28, at the A.D. Lewis Community Center, 1450 A.D. Lewis Ave. Boujee Boards by Roz will provide refreshments.
