| | Advantage Valley Launches “Taste of Appalachia”, a Series of Curated WV Grown Gift Sets, Shopping Portal Opens | | |
Taste of Appalachia, an Advantage Valley strategic initiative aimed at supporting the growth and market expansion of food producers across the region this holiday season, an online shopping portal for sales of their eight curated gift sets is now open through October 17th.
Taste of Appalachia highlights WV Grown products from businesses across Advantage Valley’s nine-county region — Boone, Cabell, Clay, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Mason, Putnam, and Wayne counties. Designed to provide a convenient “buy local” option, the gift set series serves corporations, employers, professional service organizations, and the general public seeking meaningful, locally sourced gifts during this holiday season.
The Taste of Appalachia’s gift sets, ranging in price from $30-$55, can be purchased through an online portal that will be open September 1st through October 17th at www.tasteofappalachia.com.
To further showcase the products and producers featured in the program, Advantage Valley will host the Taste of Appalachia Food Showcase on Thursday, September 18th, at J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works in Malden, W.Va., located at 4797 Midland Dr, Charleston, WV 25306. This free, public event, which is open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., will offer attendees the opportunity to sample the products in the curated sets and connect directly with the artisans and small businesses behind them.
The day will conclude with Taste of Appalachia: An Evening of Appalachian Flavor, a cocktail reception presented by Marshall University from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works. Tickets are $35 per person with proceeds supporting the program’s mission to help regional food producers scale their operations and develop sustainable, wholesale-ready business models. Hosted by BDY Studios, this event is a vibrant celebration of movement, mindfulness, and community connection. The idea for Wild Wonderful & Well grew from the success of BDY's long-running event, All Aboard BDY, which has brought hundreds of people together to move, give back, and celebrate local wellness. Building on that momentum, they envision Wild Wonderful & Well as a way to expand the spotlight — to not only gather our community for an unforgettable evening, but to also showcase the full range of wellness opportunities that exist right here in Huntington and throughout West Virginia.
The event will spotlight Huntington’s growing wellness and small business scene — with expected attendance of 200+ and media coverage from local outlets. With your support, BDY aims to elevate our community within the wellness space and show what makes Huntington so wonderfully well.
As with the past All Aboard BDY events, a high-energy signature BDY class, a curated vendor market, and live music will connect people with the information, businesses and energy that help us all feel our best.
BDY's signature class will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the vendor market and live music will last until 9 p.m.

- On Wednesday, September 24, at 5:30 p.m. in Huntington, join Lisa and Lauren for this special class to help you deepen your yoga practice through receiving hands-on assists.
- In this one-hour class, you will receive adjustments to help you understand proper alignment and muscular action in your own body. You will also learn how to create different sensations in your postures with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic cues.
- This class is part of the Unlimited Membership and anyone may drop in for just $14.

| | Marshall University Announces New Aviation Dispatcher Program This Fall | | |
Marshall University is pleased to announce the creation and launch of a new Aviation Dispatcher program this fall. Aviation dispatchers are required nationwide to coordinate, track, and plan the movements of aircraft in our national airspace. These positions can be both local and remote, as different companies require different setups and flexibility.
The skill sets tied to aviation dispatcher training also tie in to logistics and other industries. Aircraft dispatchers are a critical part of every airline’s operation. Their responsibilities include:
• Flight planning and logistical coordination
• Preparing international arrival and customs documentation
• Communicating schedules and flight plan changes
• Serving as liaison with Air Traffic Control
• Calculating mass, balance, and fuel requirements
• Delivering weather briefings
• Monitoring flight safety and coordinating emergency procedures
• Ensuring compliance with federal aviation regulations
Duration: 16 weeks
• Hours: 235 total instructional hours
• Schedule: Evening classes, designed for working professionals
• Location: South Charleston campus
• Format: In-classroom training with internship opportunities
• Cost: $4,500
